History The Advanced Short Range Air-to-Air Missile, also known by its United States identifier AIM-132, is an imaging infrared homing ("heat seeking") air-to-air missile, produced by MBDA, that is designed to dominate the within visual range combat mission. It is currently in service in the Royal Air Force (RAF) and Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), replacing the AIM-9 Sidewinder. ASRAAM is designed to outrange and outrun any other IR missile in service, allowing the pilot to fire and then turn away long before the opposing aircraft can close for a shot. It flies at well over Mach 3 to ranges as great as 50 kilometres (31 mi), considerably over double the range of earlier designs. It retains a 50 g manoeuvrability provided by body lift technology coupled with tail control.

In the box The plastic blister packs have been discarded, and the kit is now packed in a rigid black Brassin headed hard paper box, which are more environmentally friendly, and for me easy too store. The two AIM-132 missiles are well protected in thier own re-sealabel bag and then wrapped in the instruction sheet.
The parts are well cast without any blemishes or deformaties.
Eight dark grey and two clear resin parts make up the two missiles.
All the parts are cast onto a pouring block, and as I have built several of the Brassin weapons sets over the years, they are very easy to remove from the blocks.
Each missile, of which two are supplied, is made up of one body, one clear IR sensor nose, and four ailerons. A photo etch rocket exhaust makes up the missile.
Instructions and decals The instruction sheet has the build sequence, if you can call it that, with the kit only having seven parts. The front of the instructions hold the decal placement guide and a painting guide.
Colours are for the Gunze Mr Color and Aqueous paints range.
The decal sheet has markings for both tactical and training versions of the rocket.
