introduction

During 17th century, Zeybeks were men, settled in mountains of West Anatolia, who rebelled and protected populace against local pressures and injustices. As Indepence War started in 1919, they became irregular militia of Aegean Region and fought against Greek invasion. Their guerrilla warfare gave time to Turkish resistance to form a defense. With the formation of national army, most of them joined and continued their resistance till the end of war on 1922. After declaration of Republic, they were awarded with medals, military ranks and pensions.
Leaders were called as EFE and recruits as KIZAN. There was a tribe democracy in group to take decisions all together but authority of Efe was incontrovertible on the battlefield.
Zeybeks followed definite rituals for all actions. They had a special dance named Harmandali in which performers simulates an eagle.

A large cloth sash is worn to the waist as a belt and a leather weapon case is carried under this sash. As for the footwear, they have slipper style shoes and under-knee leggings named Kepmen. painting

As the figure has no standard on gear except blue color jacket and trousers, painters may vary colors in their own taste but for a realistic figure, you may visit this link. It is in Turkish but photos and drawings will be a great guide on painting this figure.
    conclusion

Details are very well defined on the figure. Another top quality figure for painters who like colorful figures.
  • SUMMARY
Highs: Nice sculpt in crisp details, nice casting
Lows: Maybe reason is boxart painting in dark flesh tones, but face and beard style looks like Moorish/North African more than Turkish.
Verdict: A colorful unique figure for historical figure painters.
