Hi Folks,

Some progress shots on the crane. Figs for scale and not yet finished. Still some work to do on the kit.

There are a bunch of pics over on Shipwrights so I've just posted a few.

Alan

The rust on the edge of the ladder between steps 1 & 2 looks a little bit too fresh!!

Ducks and runs for cover

Hi Andy,

it's been taken care off Just nipped out between showers to get some pics in decent light. A quick coat of filter has toned it down to blend with the rest.

The Mig rust is very btight lol, lol but here's an interesting pic.

Hi Derek,

Thanks for the feedback. Yip, some greese around the cogs is needed,

I like open doors/windows lol lol. In daylight you can see the interior although it didn't show up on the pics. Just a hint of something inside, it's a bit like detail in tank turrets lol, lol, you know it's there

Dockers need a bit more work and the flat caps might be a bit small!!

Cheers

Hi folks,

Added a load to the crane and did some more work on a couple of the docker. I think I will loose the guy on the crane into the genny room. Also added a sign with bluetec that I though might look good when weathered in?

Some additonal ics on Shipwrights, although all the text has disappeared at the moment

This is looking nice Alan, you sure work fast I can't keep up

IMO I think you should keep the docker on the crane.

Ciao

Hi Luciano,,

Thanks for the feedback, maybe a little more work will save the crane man lol, lol.

You may have heard me muttering about a gun platform. Here's an alternative a 50 Cal AA Post. The crane would be ground mounted in an alternative position.

Any thoughts??

Sorry about the poor pics but you get the idea.

Cheers

Al

Personally i prefer the crane on the roof, think the angles will work better and create more depth.

Hi Alan.

Sorry mate, definitely the crane on the platform. The .50 Cal is just too small.

Hi Andy and Murdo,

Thanks for the feedback. You may have a good point about the angles Andy. I shall finish the weapon and take a cold light of day pic. The space is about right for the weapon although I've grown quite fond of the crane.

My worries are that is a Eurpoean coal crane and I've never seen the like on a British Pier lol, that does't mean to say there weren't a few around because the crane itself is typical of similar British Small Cranes but they would appear to be ground mounted.

The Building could double as some sort of power house. Not being able to build my own the only other choice was the Mig one and I though this a better option when I was thinking about a counter hight to the Lh.

Thanks again for taking the time to post. Plenty of time yet to decide. It would be good to add a bit if firepower to the build which is why I started to build the 20mm and fortunately I have found a home for it.

The 50 cals from the LCM 3 are a neat little kit.

Tomorrow is another day.......

Cheers

Hi guys,

last nights pics really didn't give much of an idea of how it might look so I've added a bit of paint to the 50 cal and a couple of figs. I've also done a bit more work on the top of the tower and added and weathered in the sign.

For this to work as an Anti Air/Shipping position it would need to be surrounded in sandbags. Some slightly better pics to ponder.

Hi Alan,
This all looks great so far. The Coal Crane building look very realistic and should end up looking superb once in the dio.
I have to agree with the others about the gun, it just looks a little lost on the platform. the crane looked better in that position.

Hi Andy... And Alan. Yeah, "a little lost" sums it up perfectly! Maybe a bigger Bofors or AA gun would look better but the .50 Cal just looks... Well... "Lost".

Hi Murdo and Andy,

Thanks for the feedback guys. My perception is slightly different lol, lol When I imagine it surounded by sandbags it would appear to me to be the perfect size space, the size of the weapon doesn't really bother me as it will be off set but the crew. Hmmmmm, well time yet to decide. Other options may appear as the build progresses. I kinda like both lol, lol.

Cheers guys

Al
