It died a slow and painfull death.

I did get a little further, assembling the first few fuel cells but for the most part it just sat there while other projects were started and finished. During a spring cleaning the wife said "you are never going to finish this" and it ended up in the trash. I do of course regret letting that happen.

There is renewed hope though for a Discovery build in my future: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-YxRzUVhpkM

For those who don't know this is a BIG, detailed card model of Discovery. It will be well over 36" when done. It started with a 5/16" wood dowel wrapped with card parts to mark the location of everything (and provide a little shading). I just finished putting on the 33 "nuts" and 11 joints which make up the spine. Its was tedious work.

The wooden "assembly jig" is pretty much mandatory. I threw it together with scraps from the workshop.

Next up are the fuel cells/modules...which again due to their numbers is going to be tedious. I might start work on the engine module and/or command module just to stay sane.

Anyone else here building UHU2's card model of the Discovery from 2001 A Space Odyssey? I've started mine. Will post pics if anyone is interested.
