Is the masking tape supposed to be stuck to the tail plane in a hap hazard manner or is it a trick of the eye?

The leading edges of the horizontal stabilisers are nmf and masked off. Thats just a bit of masking from the underside folded over onto the top.
Have patience readers and all will be revealed tomorrow

Everything Kleared and now its onto the decals.
Usually I start decalling with the fusalage markings, but on this occasion I have started with the underside. The reason for this will become clear in a few days

Underside decalled.

Topside ready to go.

Interesting colours relecting off the wings under the light

As you may have gathered from the previous post, the reason why I got the underside finished first on this model was the occasion of Russ's first visit to the UK in 65 years.
Myself and Gill (SWMBO) had the privelege of spending a few days with Russ and Joan Kyler and showing them a few of the sights.
While we were together Russ was kind enough to sign the wing for me.

Heres a snapshot for the album.

Dang Nige:

You really got 2 great treasures out of that trip huh?

That young man standing with you in the picture looks as if he could still jump in his old ride and still take it for a spin or at least take you down 2 out of 3 in an arm wrestling match.

Great pics Nige thanks for posting them

I managed to make a start on the rest of the decals today.

More work to do on the cowling before I get the artwork on, and I still have the bits and pieces to make a start on as they got left while I finished the underside.

Looking great Nige. Cannot wait to see her complete.

One question though. Are you going to put the patches in the cowling like Dave did on his..

Now the VFS cowling is ready for its red nose band I can get this one painted at the same time, and then its just the bits and pieces to finish, ,,when I pull my finger out and get on with it that is!

Last bits and pieces are all painted and ready to go.
A nail biting 20 minutes but the nose art decal application went well and when MicroSol has done its stuff I'll be ready to Klear/Wash the cowling.
After that its satin varnish time and the build will be complete

Oh Thank God.. When I first saw the pic I thought well I am not saying it because I don't want to incur any bad spirits..

She really looks great Nige. Got mine to the same stage as yours but mine not as pretty.

Maybe it will be a photo finish between us..

Can't wait to see her all done..

I'm not sure yet. At the moment I'm putting a Jeep together:
I want to do something for the Mighty Eighth Campaign, and I might do a P-51 for a change.
On the P-47 front, I have a few in mind. I want to do 3 1:48th Razorbacks, one from each squadron of the 56th. I'm considering doing a 5th ERS aircraft, and I have some very nice decals for Leo Butistes P-47M in 1:32nd. What a choice.
Somebody suggested an idea for a display once.
1:72..1:48. 1:32 1:24 1:32 1:48 1:72
That should fill a display table nicely so I might work towards that.
