Hi All.
This is the Tamiya kit. Eduard seatbelts were used and theres some additional wiring around the engine and undercarriage. The missing oxygen tube in the cockpit was scratchbuilt from wire.
The artwork for the cowling was originally done for a 1:6th scale "Lorene" built by Dave Gianakos. Russ Kyler, ( Hi Russ), supplied a copy of the photograph of Lorene Kyler that the original artwork was based on and was consulted throughout the redrawing of the noseart.
Paul Parkes at PARKES682DECALS made the decals for me. Thanks Paul!
Russ visted the UK in August of this year and during the few days we spent together he signed the then unfinished model for me.
Heres the photos.

I hope I got close to depicting HV-J as you remember her Russ, and I'd like to dedicate this special build to Joan and yourself and to the memory of Lorene.

That looks fantastic Nige, and knowing how your work always looks better than in photos i can't wait to see it.

What a great looking build! Nige. I am sure she will look great on the shelf beside the others.

Also a great tribute. It is those kind of dedicatons that (at least for me) is one of the best part of the hobby.

Especially when one is lucky as you / we are to have a person as closely connected to the subject as we are.

Nice one mate. She's a cracker.
I hope you are submitting this as a feature, along with a bit of history behind it (hint hint).

Andy, I'll see what I can knock together mate
Just to round this build off, I took HV-J along to Halesworth at the weekend and took a couple of photos of the model alongside Russ's dogtags, which he donated the museum sometime ago.
