P-47 Turbo Supercharger question

Hi All,

My question has to do with the heat generated...I know the Turbine itself and related area will be discolored by heat over time but would the heat be sufficient to discolor the surrounding fuselage skin?

Here is a pic of the plane that's the subject of my next build and you can see in the area circled the fusalge is a dark color...heat or paint?

You are mainly seeing shadows. The exhaust residue would darken the area behind the turbo outlet, but aluminum will not darken with heat. There is a stainless steel duct and panel that will be a darker color material, but a lot of the heat will be quite reduced at this distance from the engine (this comes from personal experience working with turbos and exhausts on race cars).
