Everyone loves a P-47, especially if its a 56th FG P-47. Many of the available subjects have appeared in decal form over the years, some more accurate than others. There are other Wolfpack aircraft, some better known than others, which have never appeared on decal sheets.

From the following list, which subjects would you like to see available, and are there any other 56th FG Jugs which you would like see decals for? 1:72/1:48/1:32 scale.

In no particular order..

42-26466 UN-B bar. "Anamosa II" Russ Westfall

42-75278 UN-B bar. "Anamosa" Russ Westfall

41-6261 UN-B "Bat Out Of Hell" Gordon Batdorf

42-22772 UN-G bar. "El Diablo", later "Bingo" Anthony Cavello.

42-26299/44-19937/44-21209 all coded UN-B. "Panther Head" cowling art. Cameron Hart.

42-75395 UN-A bar "George" Edward Albright.

44-19879. LM-K "Homesick Angel" Robert Winters.

41-6319 HV-M "Hun Hunter" Donavon Smith.

44-21108 HV-Z bar Witold Lanowski.

42-75599. LM-G bar. "Maximum Goose" Walter Gordon.

41-6330 LM-Z "My Comarade" Hub Zemke.

41-6271 HV-Z "Rat Racer/Happy" Frank McCauley

Hi Nige,

..since you ask, any of Christensen's a/c epecially in 1:72 ..and especially 'Boche buster' I'm also partial to any 'black' machines..ie Lanowski, 'Lorene' ..again especially in 1:72 scale please...all the Pengie's would be nice too..

cheers

Neil

PS: I thought the name was Leo Batista - but yep that a/c would be a neat option too

Thanks for the input Neil.
Looking forward to see what people come up with on this.

Leo Butiste changed his surname to Batista postwar, hence the regular confusion which arises.

All the best,
Nige

Lonestar Models is releasing a 1/48th sheet with 22 P-47Cs and Ds, inlcuding around a half dozen 56th FG a/c. They will be 2 8x10 sheets for $20 US. Mike West is accepting pre-orders for half price.

Looks a great sheet, and I've been waiting for it to appear for a while now. I saw the pre order offer advertised on HS the other day, and it's a very good way for Mike to raise the capital to cover the printing costs.
$20 postage cost is a bit much for me to justify shelling out at the moment though.

I see your point. I ordered other items from him at the same time. My shipping cost for whole order. Do you want me to order you a sheet and send it on a cheaper route? I already ordered 2, adding a 3rd sheet will not incur anymore shipping.

Howdy,

I think it is criminal that Mahurin's "Spirit of Atlantic City" hasn't been available in any scale for a long time now.
Would also like to see more 56th aces in 1/72. After all, we have both razorback and bubbletop from Tamiya.

Hi Brian.
"Spirit of Atlantic City" is one of the OOB options with the Tamiya 1:48th Razorback.

Any particular aces you'd like to see in 1:72?

Rex.
What price are we looking at for snail mail across The Pond?

What is really sad is that for over a year I spent working on my own artwork for decals. Five of these subjects are on the new sheet. Here are some of my 56 FG subjects. Most were pulled directly from photos or vid caps. "Lucky", "Pistol Packing Mama" and "Louisiana Pirate" are edited from the Aeromaster originals.

Nigel,

Great question and list of of planes for decal coverage. My personal favorites I would like to see from your list plus a couple of additional.

From your list;

-"Anomosa" Russ Westfall 42-75278
-"Rat Racer"
-"Ole Cock" Donovan Smith 42-75410
-"Bat out of Hell"
-"Triss"

Additional;

-"Dream Baby" Paul Congers' P-47C
-"Devil Baby" Hillyer Godfrey
-"Carolina Sunshine" 42-75040

There are so many great options and not enough time! Thanks for the post.
