Both excellent movies! I just bought Kelly's Heroes. And, I believe that Enemy at the Gates has Panzer IIIs.

I can't choose just one either.
Gettysburg and Gods and Generals both.
A Bridge Too Far-first big movie I got to see in a theater.
Tora Tora Tora
We were Soldiers
12 O'clock High
Porkchop Hill
Brest Fortress
I find odd movies on youtube-many in Russian or Korean. Many I don't know the names of. Just watched one about two childhood friends, one Korean and the other Japanese. Captured by Russians at Nomanhan, forced into the Soviet army in 1941, captured by Germans and end up at Normandy.

I do remember reading of some Asians captured at Normandy. Must have gotten some puzzled looks from Allied troops. There is a movie about the 442nd RCT, composed of Nisei (Japanese-Americans). In it, a very confused, captured German, when confronted by Japanese appearing troops is told that Japan surrendered and is now fighting on the Allied side! As to favorite movies, so many great ones to pick from, but I'd have to say my most favorite would be"Battleground", about the 101st Abn at Bastogne. Al

I started off only thinking WWII, but after reading the replies I saw all eras were being included. That being the case, my vote would have to go with "Zulu". I've seen it at least a dozen times, and still every time it ends I want to watch it again. It's actually got to be in my top 3 list of all time.

For me it has to be "The Battle Of Britain".
It was made in 1967 (the year before it was born!) and despite the fact that it had to use Spanish built aircraft to stand in for the Lufwaffe i love it to bits.
A note worth bearing in mind is when it was made much of the key info was still covered under the British Official Secrets Act !.
If you get the chance to buy the special edition version DO SO,the special features disk is worth the money alone.

My second most favorite has to be Rommel, The Desert Fox with James Mason. There is some excellent reference material; and it displays just how hazardous it was to be a German officer, during WWII.

I'd have to go with Battle of Britain, A Bridge too far, Zulu, Zulu Dawn (more accurate than Zulu), Waterloo, Charge of the Light Brigade (1968 Trevor Howard David Hemmings version), Gettysburg and Gods & Generals.

Just watched "Downfall". It is a German film. Luckily I understand enough of it that reading the subtitles was simple. It is about the last few days of the Nazi regime. Not too much on battle, but I think it qualifies as a "war movie". Recommended.

I don't think I could pick a favourite- there are so many good ones out there and plenty mentioned here. One I didn't see mentioned is Hell Is For Heroes- definetly worth a watch.

Can't believe I forgot "The man who never was." For low budget independent, I thought "Saints and soldiers" was quite good. "9th company" was another I found on youtube.

My uncle was in Devil's brigade and Merril's Mauraders as an extra. His company was assigned to participate while he was in basic training.
