First day, 4.5 hours so far, about 2.5 to go before I pack up for the day. Not many bits in this jeep!

Hmmm, can't find a campaign gallery for this one!
I'll put the pics there when I do.

The build is inspired by modern jeeps of H-Patrol PPA (historic patrol, basically re-enactors & Friends of Popski's Private Army)

Making the most of my time while I can! I've been having vision problems on and off for a while, and now I've been told I have a cataract in my left eye. I've got two more kits unbuilt and then I'll have to stop until the NHS (public health service) can do the op., as it's going to get progressively worse until then.

BTW - campaign gallery?

Hope they can fix it soon! And I'm checking in with the Powers That Be on the gallery. Who knew someone would be ready to post there so quickly!

Nice work so far everyone!

I've gotten some work done on the Dragon desert SAS Jeep:

 photo 20151111_160711_zpsmgv9qgru.jpg

 photo 20151111_160954_zpsrfvqtstj.jpg

Now I'm no Jeep (or even vehicle in general) expert, so feel free to offer advice or point out where I've screwed up. Given that, any suggestions on what color the engine should be? And can I assume that the British would have been fairly thorough about painting the entire frame, etc. in their desert color or would the engine compartment have remained OD?

Thanks!

Hi Michael,

I research for my Ford one, and the engine its grey color, and for Willys OD. No idea about the engine compartment colors for the SAS's.

Everyone's projects are looking great so far! Absolutely love the jeep maintenance diorama. What a great mix of kits to round out a very interesting scene. I like that.

If anyone needs details of the engine on a Jeep just do a google search as there's loads of colour images that are spot on. I built a jeep for the Green Machine campaign and decided to have the bonnet up so detailed the engine as there were lots of bits missing. Was easy enough to do albeit fiddly putting HT leads in (I used fuse wire for those) and bits like that. You'll get the colours spot on if you use these images plus you'll learn what's what on the engine. I've picked up a Kubelwagen which is destine for a dio I'm working on so once I start I'll stick some pics up. I'm working on a couple of Panthers and a Tiger at the moment so once they're together I can make start as I intend airbrushing everything at the same time. Saves me having to remix paint and reset my airbrush. I'm lazy like that when it comes to airbrushing lol. I've never seen the point in photographing the box as we all know what the Tamiya box looks like lol. I've not decided yet whether to have it with the boot open showing the engine, depends if I can get the mechanic and engine set cheap. It's a lovely little kit which I've built before so quite looking forward to getting started on it.

Made a start yesterday but have now reached a natural break as I'm waiting for the German maintenance set so that I can put the engine in. Once I've done that there's not a huge amount left to do as I've painted all the little bits so it's just a question of putting it together then adding kit inside. I've got to say this is a lovely little kit that just falls together

I had a look online earlier for the instructions for the maintenance set which fortunately I managed to find and I'm glad I'd not gone any further otherwise I'd have had problems fitting it. I'll have a look online to see where the wiring goes as I always think if I'm showing an engine I may as well get it right :-)

Michael, this is the engine I did for my jeep. It's the Tamiya jeep which is a thoroughly enjoyable build as you'll find out. There's quite a few bits missing from the engine like the alternator, carburretor, plug leads,HT coil etc which I added. It wasn't too bad once you've looked at a few pics online and there's a couple of good line drawings as well. Like an idiot I didn't save the links but if you mooch about in google you should find them easily enough but then that's half the fun of the build I find as I like doing the research as much as the build.

Thanks Karl! I'm building the Dragon kit for this one but have the Tamiya one in the stash. Engine pics are nice references though!

Howdy..

I finally decided on what to build for this build..

I've got a MiniArt Bantam BRC 40 kit in the mail and on its way..

I took some photos of one during the summer and the kit looks interesting, although its not quite a Jeep. :>

Hello,

Had a bit of benchtime last night so I got to start on this build:

I find the plastic on the soft side and there were some unwanted flash on exposed areas. Fit seems to be ok. Anyways, more to come.

Cheers,

Tat
