Joe,

Tamiya makes AS-29 IJN Gray-Green

I mix my own GS H336 Hemp and a few drops of H315 Gray

with my eto campaign done i;m ready to get started on the pearl harbor campaign
this is the kit i am thinking of doing. several issues though
1. the instructions are in japanese anywhere i can get english?
2.i would really like to find a decal sheet of pearl harbor raiders from a vendor in the usa. i want to to a plane that was shot down in the attack.
3. most important, if anyone could suggest. what paint mix to use for the amiro color. i have seen results with MM IJN grey and floquil railroad concrete. but floquil is not made anymore. other concretes look to light. any suggestions?

Mark,

I have no issue with keeping your previous posts on Armorama. I would ask that you keep your updated posts on model shipwrights from this point forward.

All that being said, amazing work. The level of detail and the clean painting is amazing. Looking forward to seeing some more.

I guess I've been posting my build progress in the wrong forum. I wasn't aware there were other sections other than Armorama. Not sure if there is a way to move my posts to this forum.

Christian,

Amazing work. I can only hope that I can make the 1/350 Shokaku look half as good as you have in 1/700 scale. I cant imagine how you do it.

Looking forward to seeing more as she comes together

Hello,

sorry for none reply the last time. But I had to finish some other projects.
I came to the point where I daded the flight deck on my Shokaku and painted it.
I also added most of the flight deck markings.

I also finished the Zeros and startet with the first six Vals.
Again these are the lion roar planes with Fly Hawk pe.

Greetings Christian

Tom,

Amazing work on both the USS Arizona and the Mitsubishi A6M2b-21 'Zero" (Zeke). I really like the plane in flight look.

Great work.

Here are some photos of the Launch of the USS Arizona into the "water" on the base.

This is showing the base ready with the foam board glued to the base and the ship located in its final location.

This photo shows the acrylic clear caulking laid down and smoothed out. The ship and the mooring quays have been "dropped" into the "water".

This photo shows the "water" is almost completely clear after 48 hours of drying time. I think it will be completely clear by Saturday. Then on to the final details to complete the ship.

Those of you using Photobucket instead of the Kitmaker Gallery please pay attention to the ****storm that is currently disabling most images posted on that service.

David, thanks for the kind comments. I sanded the raised panel line off when putty was sanded, so I tried a trick I learned here by stretching sprue and applying it to replace the detail.

Tom, nice looking Arizona. Will the base be as is or have any water texture?

Yes, it will be waterline base with the 2 mooring quays and the ship tied up to them. the base will have a blue foam board bottom and then clear acrylic caulk for water.

The USS Arizona is getting close. I have a base now and after I stain it polyurethane it I'll put in the water and "launch" the ship.
I still have some details to finish on the ship, but it is getting close.

A little progress with the TBD. The kit at first look really good, but the fit has a lot to be desired. Still working the bottom piece of the wing to mate to the fuselage then some putty and the gap between the wing root and top pieces are bad.

I want to re-enter this campaign with a Monogram Devastator TBD-1. Photo to follow as soon as I can take one with the kit and screen shot.
