I just bought a set of these Fine Molds 1/72 Star Wars ships. I've never built a Fine Molds kit before and have no idea what to expect. I was going to pick up one of the Bandai 1/48 kits, but the 1/72 is more my speed, and will fit in my daughter's room better.
I know the original post is a few months old, but I would like to clear away some confusion. Bandai never made 1/48 TIE Fighter. They only made 1/48 X-Wing and it is a "motorized" kit with lighting set and other gimmicks. The only other Star Wars 1/48 kits from Bandai are Snowspeeder and AT-ST walker.
Bandai also sells 1/72 kits of TIE Fighter (in many variants) and X-Wing (both original trilogy and Episode VII variants). These kits are superior to Fine Molds - more detailed and more accurate to the studio models. Also they are more correctly scaled, as FM kits are not truly 1/72.
