Hi everyone. Just wanted to introduce myself to the modeling community. Tru-Color Paint has produced modeling paint for the model railroad and automobile markets for over 10 years. We want to let everyone know we are entering the military model segment beginning on Sept. 1, 2017 with the release of 6 U.S. Naval ship colors, 4 U.S. Aircraft colors and 4 U.S. Armor colors. Each month after that we will release 4-12 new colors for the next 16-20 months.

We will have the only true simulated radar dispersion/absorption paint for the F-22 and the F-35 jets on the market.

Welcome Martin ! It's great to have another paint manufacturer. Tell us a bit about your paints. Are they acrylic, enamel or lacquer ? Size of the bottles, brush able or airbrush only? Do we buy direct or do you have a distributor?

Thank you for the reply. Tru-Color Paint is a solvent based paint similar to an enamel, but it does not cure. The polymer used to bind the pigments we use to the model is an acrylic polymer (NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH A WATER BASE PAINT !) so that it is flexible for both plastic and R/C models. The military paint lines are ready to air brush spray from the bottle, while the flat, brushable ancillary line is intended to be applied with a brush. If thinning is desired, suggest TCP-015 as it is produced with the same mix of solvents used in the manufacture of the paint so it will not affect the properties or spray ability.

All of the Tru-Color Paint is produced in 1 ($ 5.69 list) and 2 oz. ($ 10.25 list) bottles for the hobbyist. Most hobby shops stock the 1 oz. bottles.

We have over 200 hobby shops across the U.S. and Canada, so you may purchase from them or buy direct from us or the many online sites that sell our product. There is also 7 distributors in the U.S. and 1 in Canada.

So when will you list the Military colors.
I looked and you have a boat load of Train colors.
Found it , cool.
Maybe a suggestion, as thinner is a bit, any way to break that up into 4 ounce bottles?

Thank you for your reply. The military colors are shown on the website. On the front page, go down the column that says "quick links" and you will come to the military paints - they are the last sets we added.

Are there any plans to get your products into the European markets? I ask as ordering paints from the US/Canada is not a realistic option.

Thank you for your reply. We have tried to get our paints into the European market. So far we have not been able to get a distributor or hobby shop to contact us when we have sent them emails to see if they want to carry our product line.

So if any European distributor or hobby shops reads this and wants info on carrying our paint lines (or any part), please contact us for information and flyers.

If any hobbyists in Europe wants to see our products in their local hobby shops or wherever they purchase paint they can also press them into contacting us.

We would be more than happy to work with any hobby shop or distributor in Europe to carry our paint. We already have a hobby shop in Australia carrying our railroad paint line.

Can any other thinner be used?

Thanks for your message. We recommend TCP-015, Thinner, as it is the same blend of solvents used in the manufacture of the paint. In this way, the thinner will not effect the intended smooth finish of the paint. We have heard of customers using other thinners. If you use other thinners, please use very small quantities - just a few drops is all that is needed to have an air brush paint that sprays nicely. Do NOT use acetone to thin - it evaporates too fast and may cause the paint to blush or give a rough finish.

Air brush pressure should be 28-35 PSI to get a nice opaque coating. It usually takes only 1 coat. It is nearly impossible to get runs using Tru-Color Paint. Our paint dries in 30-60 minutes using our thinner.
