I was looking at some old posts and was wondering if anyone knew whatever happened to the following guys? They used to be active on the site all the time in the 2002-2009 era. Most of them haven't been on for a year if not longer.....

Frank Glackin (plasticbattle) (#3subscriber)
Robert Blokker (Faust)
Danny Wennekes (Eagle)
Dave Willitt (animal)
Costas Rodopoulos (Major_Goose)
Kevin Gardner (jackhammer)
Carlos Elias (Blockhaus)
Keith Magee (KFMAGEE)
Jim Rae (jimbrae)
Henk Meerdink (Henk)

Just curious if anyone knows if these guys gave up the hobby, found a new cyber hangout, lost interest or what?

Cheers,
C.

Hi Charles,
You will probably find them all in the modeling communities on FACEBOOK.
Cheers,
Joe

Unfortunately, the list of "missing in action" is a lot longer. Maybe those that are still in contact with those people could invite them to come back?

This was just a short list made up after I reviewed some old posts. I know there are many guys that are missing from "the old days" A lot of these guys contributed thousands of posts in the forums and were brilliant model builders.
I was hoping that someone might know one of them and let us know what happened and why they drifted away? Facebook, boredom, life in general? whatever the reason it would be interesting to hear from them again.

Cheers,
C.

I can only agree. The difficulty is to find them back.

Maybe staff can help, I expect that they usually have the private email address of the more active members of the site?

I think Robert Blokker is one of the people behind the company Paper Panzer Productions: www.Paperpanzer.com.

As far as I know Henk Meerdink still maintains his Henk of Holland site... That is him, right?

Thanks for the info.
I thought Henk was located in Great Britain at the time so I'm not sure if it's the same one or not. I'll contact them through the sites and ask.....

Cheers,
C.

Ah, just checked, not the same person, Henk of Holland is Henk Timmerman; funny, for years I've thought it was the same person.

Hi,
I am an old-timer who does not build anymore, been a member here since 2003. This is only the third or fourth time I have actually written something in the forums since 2009.

I write manga-based fan fiction now.

Reasons for quitting: got sick of listening to people's complaints about kits. Moved onto other things. Dislike of kit reviews.

Those were just strictly my opinions.

I may cobble something together someday, but my love for the hobby disappeared eight years ago and I may never find it again.

Chris

Added: I no longer write fan fiction. I am working on Alternate Universe Panzer Division organization now.

Kevin Gardner (jackhammer) is really Jackhammer81

He married Mary aka Tankysgal.... I'm friends with both on Facebook, Work and Family have taken over for both of them for the most part.

Jackhammer was Jon Herring, and he went thru a nasty divorce and disappeared..... popped back up for a bit, and has been gone again.

Hi Chris,
I remember you from the "old days"
I also kinda lost enthusiasm for a few years and followed other interests. Now I have a little more time and still a load of kits to build. Thanks for responding to this thread. Good to know you are still around.
Cheers,
C.

Thanks for the information Matt. I remember Kevin and Mary becoming a couple. Glad to hear they are doing well. Please let them know I was thinking of them.
Sorry to hear about Jon. Hope he is well wherever he may be.

Cheers,
C.
