Has anyone here ever modeled MILES gear, for both vehicles and figures? I’m into 1/35 and am thinking of depicting modern US vehicles and troops on exercise at the Joint Readiness Training Center.

It is pretty easy to add MILES belts and receivers to figures and vehicles. The belts can be made out of thinly cut masking tape; painted green, with round receptors painted gloss black. Kim Hyoung added them to his M2A3 and the associated figures here.

What do you use for the receptors and what about the kill light?

Receptors - rounded over slices of hex rod.

CVKI (Combat Vehicle Kill Indicator) - an orange LED (or a piece of clear sprue painted clear amber) with a scratch-built base and cage. The Trumpter Abrams kits also come with a complete CVKI.

Any other parts of MILES that I need to know about?

Externally, all the aluminum junction boxes and wires that you see above. There is also a laser emitter and light that flashes to represent the main gun firing on the mantlet too. On the inside there is an ammo can-sized control box next to either the driver or TC too.

Suggestions on how to do each part of that?

Scratch-build the boxes and emitter from sheet styrene and the light from some clear sprue.

I forgot to ask, what are the approximate dimensions of the belts etc?
