So what is up with that?
Sounds like a James Bond movie.
A motorcycle, then a boat.
Bond ,James Bond.

No. Not THE crown jevels.
It was burial gifts for one of our kings, Karl IX was buried 1611, and his queen Kristina buried 1625. The objects were placed in the actual tombs and buried together with the corpses. The gold was a thin gilding and the diamonds were rock crystals, https://www.britannica.com/science/rock-crystal.

The two crowns and the apple (ball with a cross on top) were stolen.

Looks valuable but the material value is not as high as it looks.
The historical value is another thing (that is why I think that all such objects should be replaced by copies and the real objects be kept safe somewhere else).

The theft was probably a commission job requested by some collector or an "art-napping". Steal something and hold it for ransom until the owner or the insurance company pays to get it back.

Well thanks for fixing that Robin.
Still a lot of historical worth there.

The real crown jevels are still were they should be even if they have been retired from active duty. The next generation has taken over ....

I see a witty reply most would not get that.

Need to send that on to the Queen.

So where were you on said night?

The Bimb.

The theft was done in the middle of the day while there were others visiting that church.

I was in front of my computer, trying to get some work done in the heat. Sweden has had a heat wave this summer, it is as if we have had all the warm days from 20 summers packed into one summer. The warmest summer since Sweden started recording the weather 260 years ago.

Temps here can be well over 100 wet bulb, so we are use to it.

Feel sorry for places that suffer the heat without A/C, but who thought one needed A/C in Sweden, or Switzerland, even the UK.

Next be telling me that Norway, and Iceland need A/C also.

Cheers

The police have arrested one suspect and they assume that it was a commissioned heist, the thieves already had a buyer/receiver before the theft.
