I'm building an A-10 warthog in 1/72nd scale and I have scratch built the engines as well.

1. So now I would like to know how does one Paint the A-10 engines to look like what real engines should look like?

2.Also, I've seen other modelers Jet models and their models look like the metal is steel or aluminum and the colors are looking like a blueish or even yellowish colors on the engine itself. How do you simulate the look of metal that has been real hot and then real cool?

3.Are there paints that you can get to do what I just talked about?

4.Are there how to videos that show what paints/colors to use as well as how to achieve the look I'm talking about?

5.What about books?

When it comes to books,I would like to be able to read the article/book,understand what the author is talking about when painting your kit and also know exactly what paints you need to achieve that look.
Thank you

Can't say I've ever tried to do a heated metal engine effect. But I suspect that Mig or AMMO has put out some guides in their weathering series. It seems a natural for their product lines.

Try Googling "Paint burnt Iron"

Youtube has several video tutorials.

Would love to see pix of your scratchbuilt engines. A-10s are awesome!

Many years ago, I saw a non-video tutorial on painting motorcycle exhaust pipes the blue & yellow that you describe. I think I found the tutorial through an offshoot of a website called scalefirehouse.com. I think, though, you'd have to dig sort of deeply into the website, to find that tutorial (assuming it's still posted!) If I recall, the author of that tutorial used an airbrush to do his painting.

Good luck with what ever resource you use, and I hope you can post some photos of your work when you're done - as well as describe any good things/bad things you might have experienced.
