I’m in with this. It’s the biggest gun in my stash I think I have a metal barrel for it kicking around somewhere also. Hopefully it’ll end up in a Berlin Street dio some day.

Lookin' good, guys!

I've still got to decide on which one I'm going to do. I've got the RoG M109A6 Paladin, the Meng and RoG Panzerhaubitzes and the Trumpy 2S1 self-propelled gun.

I also wish everyone a peaceful and happy new year! I will participate with my monstrous 2S7M Malka self propelled gun carriage with its 203 mm gun. The Malka is a modernised version of the former 2S7 Pion gun which is still in active use with the 165th artillery brigade in Bjelogorsk. When I did see some videos of life shootings in Youtube I was "on fire" and wanted to build one of these monsters. The range of the gun is between 37.500 meters up to 55.500 meters which outclasses every other barreled artillery gun elsewere in the world. And, what god should prevent, they could also fire tactical nuclear rounds.

I chose Trumpeters 1:35 kit of this gun together with TETRA´s photoetched set, a turned metal barrel from RB, resin tires from PANZERART and the whole interior sets from 3D IN SCALE. I plan to show the gun together with a few crew members in a small diobase; we´ll see.

These are the pictures of the single components:

Well, then.... KABOOM! lets begin!

Here we go!

The siege of Port Arthur -

IJA 28cm howitzer with crew

Actually not a large ox. A4 size or even a bit smaller. About half the size of a Dragon or Trumpeter box. What's inside?

Four bags with sprues. The golden one is the crew, the large disc on top not spaceship Enterprise, but the base plate of the howitzer. There is also some line for the ammo hoist an a small PE pret. 4 sides of b/w instructions, a painting guide printed in full color and (not show here) another A4 sized booklet with b/w photos of the gun in use as well as some historical background, but in japanese only.

Not yet here but at the shopping list:
A wooden base and some sets of Juweelas flexible sand bags to build a proper enplacement.

Enjoy!

My participant will be a project I shelved last year(ex-Trumpeter V entry):

Bulgarian 122 mm Corps Gun mod.1931(A-19), a.k.a. 12,2 cm K.390/1(r):

I'll use Trumpeters kit #02316 "122 mm Corps Gun M1931/1937 (A-19)" and Magic of Models #MM3501 A-19 Early Barrel(the metal barrel Trumpy gives in the kit is 2 scale cm. longer than it should be...).

There is a long list of differencies between the kitted gun(right) and the Mod.1931 gun(left), I'll build:

thus I'll need to convert and scratchbuild some features.

Starting picture will come soon,

Richard, I have to build them sometimes, so why not now and get done with them.
Angel, thank's a lot. If I need something you will be first person to ask. By the way, nice choice, I am looking forward to few more lessons in scratch building. Good luck.

Nice choices guys. Really wide variety.

At this time, I am leaning toward building Thunder Model's 'British 7.2 Inch Howitzer"

My start picture, though I'm not quite ready to start yet. I will build this as an early horse-drawn gun in ready-to-fire mode.

Starting photos of my entry for this campaign.
Box with parts and manual.

Photo material I found on ML from weekly auctions on eBay topic(recommended for unique photo material).
Front of the Geschütz

Nice portrait of the Sturm Infanterie Geschütz 33. This is the one I will be building (one of the decal options).

More to come when there is progress with the build.

Kind regards,

Robert Jan

And here is my first update: I did start with the running gear and the wheels. I did replaced the kit´s running wheels with the resin ones from PANZER ART

I was pretty disappointed about them. On the positive side I can say the annoying ribs on the rubber of the running wheels which TRUMPETER always like to represent are ommitted with the resin pieces. The surface detail is a bit more crisp at the aftermarket wheels. On the negative side I have to say there are some inaccurate moulding spots which leads to misalignment when you try glueing together two wheels with each other. All wheels had a more or less prominent moulding seam which had to be sanded down. And the most annoying were the holes where you can stick the finished wheels onto the swingarms- These were drilled too small to fit. I had to redrill them all. If your defensive modelling budget is limited - just leave these aftermarket wheels off, they are just not really necessary.

After that I tackled all three aftermarked interior sets from 3D IN SCALE and I was very exited about the quality and Engineering of these sets. Everything fits perfectly and will improve the model vastly when painted.

Here is the rear ammo loading bay. I just added a rear wall out of Evergreen sheet - not sure if this will be visible later through the opened ammo hatches

This is the compartment for the gun crew - quite a narrow cabin for four guys. Again here astonishing Details

The most enjoyable upgrade is the frontal driver´s compartment. Although TRUMPETER give you some details here, too but this set make a big difference!

Next task is to paint all these interiors

Impressive interior parts!

But you have placed the rear hatches upside down!!!
