I am glad most of us are all ok and those that need to take care are getting all the help and assistance that they need.

But I do wish a lot of people would take a deep breath and calm down a touch.

Keep Calm and Carry On,,building.

Hey Robin, did they tell you how long you were contagious? I'm seeing sites posting up to 3 weeks and that seems a trifle long. Also did you find out how you were exposed?

On top of the Covid scare we had an earthquake this morning. 5.7 about 20 miles from where I live. Just enough to feel the rattling and startled the kids, with a couple of aftershocks since. Looks like I picked a good week to take off from work. I've been watching people and those who seem to handle things best, consistently, are those who can pause and offer some kindness and humor, no matter the circumstances.

No, I haven't been tested and I haven't had any contact with any health care providers. I am fairly certain that I have the virus and I probably got it from my eldest daughter and she probably got it from some friend who had been skiing in the Italian alps.
Symptoms are barely noticeable, the two youngest kids haven't shown any symptoms either despite having been exposed at home. One of them wants to get the virus so that she can get it over with ...
Swedish media is reporting about some village in Italy where they had tested everyone, 50% of those that tested positive didn't have any symptoms whatsoever, nothing. Some Swedish expert says that maybe as many as 90-95% of those that get the virus will have very mild or even no symptoms at all.
The actual number of infected people is therefore completely unknown since only those with really noticeable symptoms show up on the "radar" and the fatality rate of those is currently at 7-9%. The real fatality rate could be below 1%.
I haven't heard any solid facts about how long it takes to be "cleared".

The biggest problem is probably the empty tp-shelves.
High schools have closed down which is a silly move in my opinion. The lower grades might close down on Monday. The general message is to try and work from home if possible. On of the clothes stores in the local mall have reduced their opening hours, probably because some of the staff are sick. The number of registered trips in the public transport here in Stockholm has gone down, a one way trip to work can consist of three registrations bus + subway + another bus so the one million inhabitants can clock up more than two trips per day per person (bus + commuter train + subway + bus).

History teaches us that cyclic patterns are the norm. How we react to them is what matters most...

As much as I thought this idea of minimizing social contact would increase our modelling output, it seems Kitmaker is quieter than ever. Have others noticed that?

Is it because whole families are staying home reducing our ability to hit the bench?

Speaking for myself, I know if my kids are at home, I've got buckly's chance of doing any building.

Best health to everyone!

I heard a good one today— “Schools across the State are are now closed, so home schooling is now in full swing. It looks like overall, it’s very successful, but there are increasing reports of students being suspended for fighting, and teachers fired for drinking on the job.”

On a more serious note, I’m retired, and don’t have any school age kids at home, although my youngest daughter (36) rents out half of the basement in our large home. I have lots of space, time, and kits to work on. In fact I have two projects spread out on an old table in my half of our split basement. But I just don’t have the desire to work on them right now. I’m spending more time watching the news, reading, and spending time with my wife. We’re both marvelIng at the daily idiocy of toilet paper and water bottle hoarders. and exchanging tests and emails with family members in other locations.

I've noticed over the years that there are down times on the site. But it picks up when new kits are coming out or something funny happens. Give it a couple days, it'll pick up. Right now everyone is argued out.

talking of tp (again ....) I think I have figured out why Swedish schools are thinking about closing down: They are afraid that they will run out of tp in the school toilets .....

Northern NY (Watertown) has held at 2 cases since it started; both were from transient persons. One from Albany who works at Fort Drum and another originally from NYC who was there when it broke and came back to Watertown. Our biggest problem is the caravan of NYer and Canadian snowbirds heading back north from Florida. Also a lot of summer residents from NYC heading to the Thousand Islands for their camps - the potential to bring COVID-19 with them is a real threat. The Gov. asked them to stay put. The Health Depts. in northern NY asked them to stay home or self quarantine if the come up.

My mother is in isolation at my brothers house. She lives with his family and they've made sure she is as safe as possible from exposure. She turns 76 next month and she has COPD, had two heart attacks and completed breast cancer treatment last December. I did get to see her when I took her some icecream I found at the Safeway that hoarders hadn't gotten to.

The hoarding thing is just plain ol' ignorant ! And the stuff that people are hoarding. TP, come on, it's a respiratory disease not intestinal! Wisconsin leads the world in TP production and the paper mills are working 24/7. There's hardly any flour on the shelves where I shop, still lots of yeast though. So what are folks doing, baking cookies? Rice too, except for the imported sushi rice. That has Japanese lettering on it. Is that why there is some left? And racial hatred? One of my favorite Chinese places shut down over threats to their lives and I'm sure there are others too. That's just ignorant !
In Wisconsin the Governor has shut bars & restaurants. Carry outs are allowed but must be pre-paid by CC, no cash. You pull up and call to let them know you're out front and somebody wearing rubber gloves brings it out to you.
INVESTMENT TIP: buy stocks for home pregnancy kit manufacturers !
Hang in there everybody ! We'll get through it !

Ha ha....yep— absolutely, for those folks who are not “home schooling” or weren’t former day care providers or teachers.

Yes, I agree - it seems Kitmaker is extremely quiet! Perhaps everyone is too busy building, and have no time to post!

Have you been tested? Or are you waiting to see if you develop any symptoms? From what I've read, it's about 5 days for symptoms to develop, and if you do get tested, it's usually 5 days for the results to come back.

Not sure about anyone else, but I've finally had time to crank up the spray booth on half a dozen part-bake shelf queens since the UK lockdown began. But I'm worried about paint and AM supplies holding out as getting new stock shipped may be a problem...

@Patrick, fingers crossed for you! Keep us posted.

Can't get tests up here. The person who may be infected has been told to wait for symptoms to show before they'll test him or his coworkers, they were exposed at work last week by a confirmed case so it's now a wait and see game. Gotta love the incompetence running this show in the US. I'll call my VA doc tomorrow and give her an update. Problem is the massive damage done to the right side of my chest decades ago that left me with one lung that is so full of scar tissue it doesn't work well. When I saw my doc at the first of the month she told me I might have problems if I get the infection.

Latest out of Wisconsin.... Good news ! TP factories are now going 24/7.
Bad news... Farmers are dumping milk because cheese manufacturers have slowed or stopped production, no place to sell it. The Governor has stated that his, "Safer at Home" measures include family gatherings for members that don't live together. So no Easter gatherings with the Grandkids. Summerfest, the Worlds biggest music fest has been postponed until September. No news on the Democratic Convention yet. This was the golden opportunity to show off Milwaukee to the world. Other than all of the potholes this is a great city, filled with Museums, great dining, things to do, that's unknown to most people.

I remember back when Chernobyl melted down and all those European dairy farmers had all that contaminated milk. They couldn't just dump it, couldn't let it contaminate the ground worse than it already was or let it wash into the rivers. It was a mess.
