He went to school with my niece and they've been friends since kindergarten. They were here at my house hanging out and he started talking about how he and his co-workers were exposed to a customer who was confirmed to have it. I asked if he was kidding and he told me it was true and they were told that since testing is just about unheard of they have to wait to see if they develop symptoms. I was a bit irritated. I then found out about an hour ago that my niece who just started working at Walmart found out that two of her co-workers are positive for the virus. Since she lives a few houses away she's here quite often. So now I've possibly been exposed from two sources.

That’s rough buddy. Well, you know the best thing to do right now is isolate yourself, see if symptoms develop, and if they get bad, call the doc right away— don’t wait. Fever, sore throat, cough are symptoms, but if the cough gets out of control, fever goes through the roof, and you can’t breath, time to call the doc. I believe the standard for isolation is 14 days. If you haven’t developed anything by that time, you should be good to go. I need to take my car out about once a week to be sure everything is working, battery is charged and the seals are lubricated— I just drive around, never get out. But it’s unbelievable how many folks are still out there socializing, shopping even though we’re supposed to be sheltering at home. Passed a Lowe’s parking lot yesterday that was completely full. I wouldn’t go in that petri dish for anything. My small community here is up to 30 cases— and since they don’t get tested now until they get to the hospital, that’s 30 hospital cases— who knows how many more are out there. Don’t take chances.

No they're quite serious about the whole thing with the Rfid, they are an elderly couple and the guy is 80+ and a major conspiracy believer. He believes in colloidal silver would cure the virus and all other major health issues and diseases.
He then said all vaccines contain anti freeze. I asked him did it say ethylene glycol or propylene glycol? He went to the site and read me the paragraph and the author said propylene glycol was being used in the vaccines and the main use for propylene glycol was anti-freeze. I laughed and said don't believe every thing you read on the internet. And he argued the man who ran the website was a genius. I kept laughing and asked if he had any kind frosting or e-cig vaping juice and he got some of both. I had him read the ingredients list and sure enough there was propylene glycol. I told them that ethylene glycol was used in antifreeze and was poisonous.
Well the old guy didn't like to have his conspiracy disproved so he went to his computer room and I explained to his wife that propylene glycol was a safe food additive used all over including medicines and it was used in the drinks her husband has to use to flush his gut out with prior to a colonoscopy, same as me. She told me thanks and said you know how he is, everything is a conspiracy. I said goodbye and got ready for bed. Now that I've finished typing I can get some sleep.

Probably didn't like being called out for being stupid enough to believe that stuff too. My wife's grandfather fell for the old "Microsoft will pay you $1200 per email you send" scam that went around for a while. When I told him it was not true he sent one last pissy email to me and we never got another email from him ever again.

And therein lies the problem with the internet. Every hack, quack, conspiracy theorist, political rumpus rouser and nut can print whatever they want. It used to be they came around town in a wagon and sold Carmel colored “cure all elixir” “charlatan” “snake oil” water in a bottle until somebody found out, and ran them out of town on a rail after they’d been dutifully tarred and feathered. To bad we can’t do that today. It’s also what bothers me a bit about this current situation we’re in— half the folks out there never made it past basic high school algebra or biology, and have no idea about the science it takes to understand the difference between a bacteria and a virus, let alone terms like exponential growth or mutation. Yet they automatically believe all the hacks out there, because they have just enough “‘net education” to make them darn dangerous to themselves and others. In short, everybody can comment (including yours truly-this commentator), it doesn’t matter if they have a clue or not, and some gullible soul will believe them.

I actually have the science; it's my job as a science teacher. However, I have some colleagues who got their jobs because of their coaching abilities and not their education.
But it's true; the vast majority have no clue as they were too busy not paying attention in class because "When will I ever need this stuff? I'm going to be a famous 'INSERT UNLIKELY TO OCCUR CAREER HERE'." And BTW, the average education level in the U.S. is around 8th/9th grade.

My wife has a university degree in psychology (some of her studying rubbed off on me too but don't tell anyone).
In one of the courses they were informed about SSRI medication and the teacher claimed that there was enough of the stuff in the potable water in London (UK) and Paris (France) to give everyone in those cities a daily dose of it. She told me and I said BS and then used some simple maths to show that there was no way to do the maths in this universe to get the sums right.
A university teacher can fall for wild conspiracy theories too ....
Maths and argumantation below if someone is interested.

London gets its potable water from purification plants which take their raw water from the river Thames (upstream). The, ahem, "used" water is discharged downstream.
At that time the population of London was about 8 to 9 millions. Let's say 8. If 8 million people were to get their daily doses from the upstream raw water that water has to contain those doses so 8 million people upstrem from London need to consume those doses first and then "pass water" into the Thames. The population upstream of London is less than 8 millions but let us assume that it is 8 milions or even 16 millions.
If we assume that 16 million people upstream of London discharge their "water" into the Thames then the cross section of the Thames would contain sufficient doses of SSRI. To get all those doses the water purification plants would need to take all the water, every single drop of it, which would leave the Thames riverbed dry downstream of the purification plants. The Thames is still flowing downstream of the purification plants so the purification plants do not take all the water so let us assume that they take half of it. This volume would still contain 8 million doses.
Do the Londoners drink every drop of the water? No they do not. The shower, take baths, flush their toilets, run dishwashers and washing machines, water their lawns occasionally, wash cars and all the other uses we have for our water. The consumed water is possibly only a tenth of the potable water that flows through London every day. The total population of the UK was somewhere around 66 million (57 to 58 million outside London) in 2018 so even if every single soul outside of London ate SSRI medication daily and they all p-ed into the Thames there still would not be enough SSRI in the water to supply all of London.
The number of SSRI users in the UK in 2018 was less than 8 million ....

Talk about contaminated water. A few years ago I read some news, can't remember where now, that said the lower Puget Sound is caffeinated. The story is that so much coffee is consumed in Seattle that the waste water, after treatment, going into the sound carries the caffeine and the lower Sound has more caffeine than it a shot of espresso. Considering the amount of caffeine consumed in my neighborhood I could almost believe that. There are 4 coffee shops/coffee stands in a five minute walk from my house. They are really popular with the local high school, as soon as the school lets out for lunch the campus empties of 10-12 graders and they all line up for their hourly dose of caffeine.

As a denizen of Puget Sound (I live two blocks from the Sound), and having two advanced degrees (and a good calculator, which is more important), I can state I checked your math and it’s right on. However, not all of those 7.5 Mil. folks living in Washington State actually access rivers draining into Puget Sound. The State is divided into two halves by the Cascade range of mountains, As the watershed for the Cascades drains east and west, the east outflow is to the Columbia and Snake River Basins. In fact, the second most populated city in the State is Spokane, On the east side of the State. Therefore, only part of the 7.5 Million populace’s caffeine total goes into the Sound. Given this fact, even less caffeine is dumped into the Sound than you’ve calculated. . However, there have been high levels of various pharmaceuticals detected in fish in the Sound, not caffeine. So our fish are easy to catch because they’re drugged, and easily fooled, rather than hard to catch because they’re fast and hyper. I just love these urban myths.

I intentionally went with numbers that would give an underestimation and I couldn't be bothered with finding the correct number of inhabitants in the tributary area
Less people results in more cups per person and smaller cups (2 oz) would raise the number of cups by almost 1/3.

Quarantine or “shelter in place”/ “stay at home” or “closing non-essential businesses”? There is a big difference. Quarantine implies nobody moves, goes anywhere, in or out, for anything, unless it’s sanctioned, controlled and purposed by the governing authority. It also “implies” martial law to do the controlling over a large area. I can’t believe the whole state of Louisiana is “quarantined”— sure you got that right? I don’t see it on any news anywhere, and that would be big news. Wuhan and Hubei province in China were quarantined. I used to write plans for bio-quarantines and natural disasters. Quarantine is a really big deal— if this is true, Louisiana would be the first (and only) state to take that step, and it’s doubtful it could happen without the Federal Government getting involved. Unless it’s for a relatively small geographic area (like a single city).
