Jacques,

Dumb questions...would there be any grass left since the whole place was nuked? Or does it matter? I'm trying to decide what camo scheme to use and since the whole area might be nuked, green might be out!

Second, is the vast majority of the area still radioactive? I ask because I'm entering an open-top Humvee, which will be kind of nonsensical if there should be NBC protection.

Also, did Armorama T2K 2003 have a date that the story left off? Seems like 2043.

I'm not trying to be nitpicky or create too many rules, but I do want to get a feel for the environ I'll be writing about.

Thanks.
Jacques

Not sure about the end of timeline question...anyone?

As for grass...yes it is around. The premise is nuked city craters are all that is radioactive, the rest is now "clean". Just lots of rubble. recently done tacticle nuked area are "hot" though...but those are story line parts...you can still roam around fairly safely. Geta geiger-counter for fun.

As for the Netherlands...I have no probs...anyone else?

Thanks!

It's good to hear we did not became occupied again!
:-) :-)

OK, besides your answer GunTruck told me NATO headquarters (Brussels I asume) was destroyed by a 10 Megaton bomb.

THIS IS SOMETHING LIKE MY STORY LINE

Other major NATO targets in my area are the US/NATO base at Brunsum (Netherlands) and the big military airfield Gilze-Rijen. This airbase would be a major target because it has always be 'public secret' in The Netherlands that NATO stores nuclear weapons there (although officially our government denies - but there are governments for- ). I still can remember the protest marches and there are still some hippie-like 'Peace Villages' (= protesters campsites) in the neighbourhood of the base.

Taking this all into the storyline, it's asumable that besides Brussels also Brunsum and Gilze-Rijen were 'flattened' with a nuclear attack. This gives three major attacks in a rather close triangle shape (about 300 km each side).

And inside that triangle lies... my hometown... (hmm, never thought about that since now... )

I can asume that if those targets are nuked, my hometown became a stone dessert, or at least a heavy damaged and radiated area.
And now it's up to local leadership, huh? Have to think about that a bit more....

NOW: AM I ON THE RIGHT WAY??
Please give me your comments!

Thanks,

Paul

Yes - you're on the right track!

Hi, Y2K -2K FIVE D.U.
I thought up a story and want to join in on this one.
I already posted in two other Y2K-2005 threads but found this one and thought this is the appropriate one to reply with entry request and description of project. follows

Adak, Alaska.

Navy Seabees defend the second to the last Navy Submarine and Marine Amphibious port of the North Pacific / Bering Sea region, now charted as the Pacific Bering Vertebrate. The marines are deployed off shore defending oil rigs and are too busy to support the few left on port. CBEOs (Equipment Operators) and CBMUs (Maintenance Units) have retro-fitted local utility vehicles for these defense purposes.

Full Untethered Remote Control (FUnTRC), via satellite, Armored Wagon from a general mining tractor. Used now for road block / checkpoint disruptions and distractions as well as surveilance duties.

The invaders: Norths Elves.
REASON: all world cultures on earth have unanimously concluded that Kristo Claus aka Kringel does not exist! Therefore leaving the elves powerless in their ancient time long legacy of psycops. And they are pissed...

As said by KoSprueOne, I posted some of my advance in another thread, but IŽll give you here the story line of my project.....

The Last Copper Mine

"Protecting the Copper Mine"

WWIII affected many countries, and one of them was Chile. With lots of military hardware aqcuired from the Soviet Union, the Republic of Peru, launched a massive invasion to grab the northern regions their southern neighbour.
With a big amount of the Chilean Armed Forces commited in support of the Allied military in the fight against communist forces in Panama Canal, Mexico and Australia, the initial assault of the Peruvian Army (supported by the local communist guerrilla) was thought a big success.
But the Chilean Military wasnŽt defeated...after a long and costly battle, that lasted almost 3 years, the Chilean Army, Navy and the Air Force honored their mottoŽs "Always Victorious, Never Defeated" & "Win or Die", pushed the peruvians away and destroyed most of the communist guerrilla forces.
After the conflict, the Chilean Army had to be stretched in the protection of all working industrial premises along the country, take care of border control, police duties in the cities and county and so on. When international trade with industrialized nations stopped, the panic of the people growed around South America since the nuclear exchange between NATO and Soviet Union, that fact treatened the very foundations of the relatively untouched chilean society: thousands of refugees, marauders and ex-soldiers of the defeated peruvian army and reborn communist guerrilla, flooded the almost intact chilean land...
In this dark and apocaliptic world, we found a single M41A1(CH) light tank and a few soldiers protecting the entrance of a copper mine, against ex-peruvian army renegades and local marauders. Left alone In the middle of the dryest desert of the world, with only 400 liters of diesel fuel and little supplies of water and food, this soldiers of the Armored Cavalry Regiment "Granaderos" (Grenadiers), even in the worst conditions, are still committed to their oath to defend their country at all costs...
