Andy,
Welcome aboard! Thanks for the tip about exchange rates too.

I will add HobbyHQ to the Online directory. Please feel free to add your comments and rating for them there also.

Thanks,
Jim

Hey,

How about HobbyLink Japan? I think its www.hlj.com or something.
I bought the Tamiya Dragon Wagon w/trailer + the duece and a half and some other things, it was cheap, I think like just over $100 and took 2-3 weeks for delivery to Missouri

Welcome aboard to Armorama Andy...Herberta! :-)

Those are some pretty cool sites you showed us. The HobbyHQ even has the DML kit of the M4A3E8 WWII version I was looking for! Thanks.

Hope to see more of you here!

Thanks for the welcome guys!!

HobbyHQ also send out super-duper specials via e-mail. I picked up the Tamiya StugIII, brass projectiles, PE and the zimmerit applicator for about US$30 including shipping. It took less than two weeks to get the package, and their stuff is all really well packed.

Now my secret source for kits is revealed!!

Cheers
Andy

I am a big fan of HLJ. They are courteous, well-supplied, and very reasonably priced. I just ordered the Marder III and (another) Sherman for under $40. If you are in a hurry, try someone else. I receive Squadron's material and occassionally order from them. I think they are little on the high side. Specials are great. Also, R&J Enterprise is super. Finally, I frequently order from APC Hobbies in Virginia. They are fast on the draw and nice folks to deal with. I have not found any dealer to avoid.

I agree DJ Squadron can be high, when I am looking for particular model I will shop around for the best price. Most times it is Great Models, but not having any hobby shops near me I've been buying from Squadron for over 20 years. In all that time they have only got my order wrong once and then straightened it out quickly. And it really wasn't their fault, Tamiya had packaged the wrong kit in the box. I opened the box of a Tamiya's M113 to find a German tank , that I couldn't pronounce the named of, some strum thingie. Made a phone call and they sent me my M113, less the box.

They let you keep the German tank? When I had the wrong item shipped, they told me to just hang on to the wrong kit and sent the right one.

Check out the Barrel Store at www.bentbutnotbroken.com I have placed 2 orders within last month and they are great folks to deal with and are a little cheaper than Great Models, also try www.rollmodels.com have ordered from them in the past and they send you automatic updates and specials for a period of time and they beat both the barrel store and Great Models on most items. I wish Great Models would remove the stuff that is no longer available from their site, it'd be easier to surf, but what a collection!

I buy almost exclusively on-line, and my list is:

www.greatmodels.com
www.squadron.com
www.rollmodels.com
www.modelexpo-online.com

and, in that order. I've had good experiences with all of them (nobody's perfect) and order from them way too often...just ask my wife.

Thanks for all the good tips on other places to look online, though. I am always ready to shop a model to death, given what they go for these days. And, I guess spreading the wealth around can't be bad for these online businesses.

Hey tanks MJ, I'll have to checkout rollmodels and modelexpo-online. I never heard of either and it's been weeks since I purchased anything, I need a fix quick...starting to get the shakes.

Not a good choice for europeans. Most big e-bizz retailers are in the US. Shipping cost makes it more expensive than buying at the local shop... and we have so many around the corner as we all live so close together out here !

I found there site and thought the prices where way to high, until I was smart enough to read the note that says the prices are in canadian dollars. When you convert the money to American dollars (and they have a link to a site that will convert for you right then) the prices seem to be the best I have seen. I will try them out next time I make an order.
