You lucky big city fellers, the closest hobby shop to me is an hour away. And there are a couple of more even a little further away. But there are no Hobby Lobby's, never even heard of them till Treads post. I haven't seen this many excited guys since the Budweiser truck broke down on our street and he ask me to watch it while he phoned for help.

Ron--easy on me. I am living on a pension and it's tough to make ends meet. Tread, just fire me a message and I am willing to part with some of that well earned retirement money to get another Tamiya Sherman and Lee kit. Remember---- A friend in need is a friend indeed.

Seems I'm always at the wrong place at the wrong time. Most of us would have a smelling garbage truck or a menure truck minus one wheel on our doorstep instead. Now I understand why you let your hair down earlier this week !

Well Jan, I thought if Tread could change his avatar for a day, and look younger. I'd shoot the works and change mine too.

Took a trip to a second Hobby Lobby here in town today. Got a Tamiya Cromwell IV, Marder II and allied equipment set for $30. I'm not trying to rub it in here, I know how a lot of you feel. Up until recently, I lived in a small town in the middle of nowhere. The only model kits in the whole town were a ten-year-old selection of snap-tite kits...and a selection of regular (not model master) Testor's paints...shudder.
Anyway, I guess there is a third Hobby Lobby here in town, but my poor bank account is screaming for mercy!

Believe me I understand KMM. It's been very difficult for me not to buy the whole store out
(in fact if I was single, I probably would have). I'm sure that any and all kits I buy would be of some use to some of the members here, or I could just post them on EBay for a simple profit. Buttttttttttt, I have to practice some sort of self control don't I. Well, don't I? :-)

I just got off work an hour or so ago, but we had a sizable snow storm here lastnight. So, I'm going to rehit the local stores now, and hit the one's I haven't been to yet, tomorrow.
Anybody need any Tamiya sandbag sets? This one store has about 12 of them. Each box is $4.49, so you would get two for that price. I've already bought 4 for myself. Going to pick up a couple more to use with my recently acquired FlakGun 36/37

I've noticed the same thing. Some Hobby Lobby's you go to have a pretty decent sale counter. I stop in every once in a while to check it out.

One of the things I've noticed is that if you look all the boxes over of a particular model you will generally find one that is marked a lesser price than its brothers! Kinda like an old price vs. a new price, but all the models are new! I can only assume minimum wage employees not really paying attention are the reason.

Heck, the only thing Hooby Lobby could do better as far as I'm concerned is ENLARGE their selection of models. I'd just love to see some AFV, or a few Accurate Armour models at 50% off!!!!

I remember the Hobby Lobby in Huntsville, AL. They would have a clearance aisle on the other side of the store from the model aisle. That aisle would sometimes have a better selection than the regular model aisle. I also remember them having a manager's clearance table that had piles of kits and if the item had a certain colored dot sticker on it, it would be dicounted even more. No good clearance selections at the 3 nearby hobbyshops. Both have older kits still on the shelves, some at full retail+ price.
At least around here I can buy armor kits. I had to start build aircraft when I was in NJ, I had more tanks than all the nearby hobbyshops combined.

I've noticed that the two Hobby Town stores here in town can have very different prices. For example, the northern store wants $50 for a Tamiya Panter G Early, while the southern store only wants $36 for it. Unfortunately, I looked at the kit at the northern store, then won it on E-Bay for $40, thinking it was a good deal. Turns out I got it for pretty much the same price I would have paid including tax at the other store. D'OH

YodaMan.......if that's true (here locally), then I'm off to spend some serious pesos!!!

But my suggestion to you all is to get there early, apparently some of the local modelers (not denizens of Armorama) also know of this sale. Hence, the shelves tend to ge trather barren quickly.

Tread.

BTW Yoda....good choices.

Lets see here... got back from my first trip to Hobby Lobby. :-)
Picked up the Revel 1/96 Saturn V for $50
Got a few Tamiya German soldiers for $3
And Willy's MB JEEP for $8.50

...Can't get too much more.... well, I shouldn't anyway...

That's modelbuilderspeak for 'I'm not spending more than another 25 bucks...
...I hope!'
Anyone else seen their model stockpile get bigger?

Thanks sgtreef, but this time it's YodaMan who's alerted us all! He's the man of the hour.
Apparently (above) he's already spent some of his hard-earned greenback at Hobby Lobby.
I intend to do the same!

Tread.

BTW.....to all.......my whole-hearted suggestion (read, caution) is do not be tempted to buy any of the Zengfooie stuff. Believe me, even though the price seems exceptional, the product is not. Stick with the Dragon and Tamiya fair....O.K? Don't want to have to start reading a new thread that is entitled 'Bought Sh*t from Hobby Lobby, and didn't know it from Shinola'....

Hey Yoda, did you get that "Priest" at a heavenly price? I spent $12.50 for one today...not a bad deal. And, they had four Mobelwagens (SdKfz 161/3), two listed for $39.99 and two for $29.99. God, I love their inconsistancy! Naturally, picked up the two for $29.99, and basically got a two-for-one deal. I absolutely love the 50% off stuff, I just wish they had more of a selection...although I do realize different stores have different inventory.

Heh, Heh,...Just wait until I get on that Jenny Craig thing, Tread. But, in the meantime...I do appreciate the avatar.

Keep away from those flames, big guy.
