When I first saw Sabot's avatar, I was rather intimidated by it. I can't quite explain how....
By the way: Tread, the next time you type something funny (which happens to be quite frequently...) please give warning. It's not good to burst out laughing when you've just taken a big gulp of water and you're sitting near computer equipment.
Kill 2 birds with one stone, drink Windex.
I changed my avatar because Jim offered up a new one and a couple of guys started using my "Terminator" guy. I am the Sabotnator, I'll be back....

Well, I picked my avatar because it looked like me. PC or not, I wish Jim could put a pipe in my mouth and a pair of glasses on. LOL.

OK....Yoda, (WARNING)...Because he looked like a COP!...."License and registration please".....
That's about it...
Now that I've been posting for a while, 135 posts, I'm just too attached to 'Mr. Underbite' to change. I'd only choose a different one if some other visible member started posting with the same avatar.

Actually, I only like the Norwegian side of the family for the adventures..... You know R,P,P... Pillaging, Plundering etc. etc. I cannot seem to figure out why the Chain of Command, frowns on this, but what the heck!

Bryan,
Something tells me they are talking about the graphic you added to your signature line.
Nice effect.

It took me a while finding an avatar that looks even meaner and uglier than I do, but I finally found one !
Who the hell is General Failure, and why was he reading my hard disk ?
Where's my funky Iraqi general rank that was here on my profile a few years ago? Did they strip my rank, after all I've done for this forum ? Robbery!!

Oh, thanks. I stuck that in my sig block last night. Took a pic of my warfare pin, made it a transparent gif, put it on the web in some webspace I have and put the img html code in the sig block of my profile referencing the location of the where I put the graphic on the web.

Sorry about that. Gunnie explained this in another post too but I'll go ahead and do it here too:
1) Find a pic you want and upload it to the internet somewhere for storage.
2) In your profile, insert the following code in the signature block:
Code:
<img src="full web address where you put the graphic">
For the sake of bandwidth and site speed, you need to keep the pic within reason and size. I actually did this without asking Jim about the size requirement or if he even wanted us to use them so he may chirp in with some sort of direction. The pic I use is only 3.5K in size. I've seen sites that limit the size of the pic you use in the signature.

Would you use the same code to put a picture in the main body of the post?
Also, does the picture have to be the only thing on the webpage?

Yes you can use the same code. No it doesn't need to be the only thing there.

Yoda, the graphic doesn't even have to be on a web page. As long as it's uploaded to the directory you reference the code to look for it'll show up. I have 10 megs of space my ISP provides so I just upload pics I want to post in a message (or in my signature) to my personal webspace just like it was a directory on my computer. Then I tell the code to look for that file based on the web address of my webspace. Sound confusing...lol!
