Didnt the blast set come with tracks of its own? Did it not match up with AFC Club's one?

Jazza,

The AFV Club track seemed to be crisper with sharper detail on the end of the tracks and more finely cast.
The afv track was very fine to work with but I'm glad I made that decision .

Blast's track was finely cast and could be used .
there was resin track supplied with the road wheel assembly but the track was in sectional pieces and individaul links to wrap around the idler and drive sprocket .
put that down to personal preference .

Cheers
Michael

Ah thanks for the tip Michael. I will certainly think about this come the time to do up my Bradley.

Hey do keep us updated on your Bradley build though. I would love to keep up with it and use it as reference.

Any chance you guys can register on Military Modelling and write up a build blog there? We got a couple of kiwis idling there as well.

LOL Jeremy now you mention that I do remember them closing down, I have to agree with you, I haven't bought a model in NZ apart from the 1/16 figure I did for a long long time

Yup. I just recently bought my Dragon Wagon for a total of NZ$132 all up. Hobby City was selling it for $250 and AceHobby was selling it for $199. Even for the halftrack, i paid a total of NZ$54. The kit is going for $75 in Hobby City. The savings is almost unbelievable.

I would love to support NZ model shops but if I did that I wouldn't get anything built lol. the thing with New Zealand is that a vast majority of the shops are R/C based and only have plastic kits as a sidebar.

Yeah i have noticed that, which is probably why i only have a handful of hobby shops that i frequent. AceHobby and HobbyCity as they seem to be the only ones in Auckland that have a decent selection of plastic.

You're not contributing your expertise to Armorama as well??? I'll head over to MM to have a look, but I would hope that you'll keep contributing to Armorama and not disappear to the opposition!.

My latest is a Tamiya Jeep I'm converting to a vehicle belonging to the PPA (Popski's Private Army)
There were a few New Zealander's involved, and it's a bit different to the usual SAS or LRDG Jeep.

Can't agree...you can still get good reasonable deals at places like the model shops in Franklin (Hamilton) and Greerton (Tauranga), MC&H in Wgtn and Acron Models in Chch...the trick is to know the relative worth of things. I import a lot as well (in my procurement days anyway) but have always been able to find good deals in NZ, especailly when keeping an eye out for activities like the annual Modelcrafts Birthday sale (has that ever got me in so much trouble over the years!)

As for what is on (under actually) my work bench, please say hello to my new friend, Dora...courtesy of the good folks at Modelair in Newmarket (please add to the list above too)...just about finished polishing off the barrel seam ( a good fit but over two metres of join to polish up!). A big kit and lots and lots of parts but actually quite simple to build...so far...

Im going to say from what others such as you people have said the best model shop in NZ is down here in Invercargill.
It gets all the latest Dragon models and has a really massive range of aircraft.
Aftermarket parts...lots.
Price pretty good.
But thats just my little bit of advertising.

SJPONeill,
I some respects I agree with what you say, Greerton is an excellent shop and I did actually forget about them I think my statement was a bit too wide sweeping. To be honest Frankton models just does not impress me I build Allied WWII and there is often only two or three allied 1/35th vehicle kits in, usually overpriced compared to other New Zealand model shops, and their customer service leaves alot to be desired by plasic modellers, I have talked with other Hamilton Modellers and they all say that when on the odd occasion they have had frankton order something in for them they hardly ever get rung to let them know its in and usually by the time they get there to pick it up its been sold to someone else.
But I do go there for my glues and paints only because there is no where closer.
Sorry about the Rant
I have been to Modelcrafts and hobbies down in Wellington and Ace hobby in Auckland and both are excellent shops, thinking about it now my original statement was not a very good one to make and I am sorry for that.

Here is what I am working on at present.

Photos are from yesterday of the E-Boat at early mock up stage.

Just to see how everything fits together and planning out the painting.

I am not real happy with the torpedo tubes they need a little more work. Nor am I real happy how the depth charge racks sit.

Cheers
