FYI In case anyone didn't know, the Hobbytown USA in Germantown on County Line Rd is closing. I was in there and stocked up on primer and other consumables. There are a lot of kits left of their inventory and the paint selection is pretty full. Discount was 20%. So not total blow-out pricing but not horrible.

Was there yesterday to pick up paints. Going back to see what kits are still available and of course get some more paints and accessories.

I'll probably go back as well, some more paint I want to get. I think I'll pick up a kit also, it'd be nice to have one that's not 15+ years old.

Darned shame that another shop is closing. I guess I'll head up that way tomorrow and hit Cabelas too.

Are there any model shops left in the SE area now besides Michaels and Hobby Lobby for modellers to mingle?

Sad to say John there's only 2 left in the MKE area (that I know of)
Model Empire in West Allis, 70th? & Greenfield. Not much armor and mostly Tamiya kits. A few more planes but lots of cars & truck kits.
Happy Hobby on 78th & Burleigh, lots of older kits with few new kits added. Wide variety but pricey. Aircraft seems to be his niche.
Neither place is the type of store you'd want to hang out in, IMHO
I did stop at Hobbytown for their sale. At 20% off the kits still seemed overpriced. Not that I need anymore kits and I'm trying to slash the stash at this time. Did score some Xuron cutters for $21. How did I ever live without them And a bunch of Vallejo paint as the 2 shops mentioned above don't carry them.

I grabbed a few paints. Not much was left but they still had Vallejo and Testors.

Besides IPMS Richard Bong are there any modelling groups nearer to Milwaukee (Waukesha-Milwaukee-West Bend)? I'm looking to get back into building (doing lots of wargame figures at the moment) but have a substantial stash to start on.

Welcome back to the hobby John !!!
There is SWAMPS, an armor building group. We meet the 4th Friday every month in the basement of the Waterstone bank from 6:30 to 9PM.
The bank is located at 6560 S. 27th ST. There's some building and some BSing, a good bunch of guys.

My blocking event for July may be moving the date so I may be able to make it this month.
