USS Thomas Jefferson...

Mfg: Several kits put together
Scale: 1/700
Medium: Resin, Plastic, PE

Jump into your time machines for this one. My favorite patron has apparently run out of ships to model that actually exist, so we are now working on ships that do not yet exist. The Thomas Jefferson may perhaps be part of the United State’s new carrier class starting with CVN 78 (Ford).

The kit itself is a combination of several kits of the USS Eisenhower and USS Abraham Lincoln with a beautifully scratch built island by my patron. Weapons positions and selections are taken from artist renderings released so far, but may not actually come to pass, and would likely be changed by the time we got far into the class enough for the Jefferson to be named and launched.

An interesting interpretation of the Ford class. We have a contractor's conceptual model of the Ford (~1:144) on display on the Midway and it comes with cutaways showing the fancy new automated arresting gear and magnetic catapults. The flight deck has F-18s and UAV strike aircraft that look like Horten flying wings. --Karl

A very nice presentation, David, and some very well executed decal work. The island looks like a submarine structure, and interestingly placed well aft - thanks for the pix, a difficult subject to capture. Peter F
