AFV Resource Feature No.1 - Sd.Kfz 251

Introduction

In recent years, both Dragon Models and AFV Club have been releasing a good number of variants of that most fascinating of vehicles - the Sd Kfz 251 in 1/35th scale. The 251 series is however, a bit of a minefield for modellers.. Four different 'marks' were produced (Ausf 'A' to 'D') with each 'Ausf' running to 20 + variants. Therefore, using the existing reviews, here on Armorama, this article will be the first in a series, to 'pull together' the many reviews and features which have been published on the site.

Conclusions and some useful links...

The 251, as I mentioned in the intoduction, is a complex subject for the modeller. However, there are some superb kts of the subject available along with some first-class reference material. For those wishing to build up their reference library with the minimum of hassle and expenditure, two publishing houses are particularly worth a mention - Osprey Publishing and the Polish company, Wydawnictwo Militaria. For AM (aftermarket) additions, a number of companies are producing some extraordinary sets. There are a number of retailers whose service and wide range of stock are worth noting - these can be found in the links below...
