Kitty Hawk launched their 1:48 MiG-25 in the late Fall of 2013. The kit received a lot of criticism in the online model world, some justified, some not. In order to sort the fact from the hype, we wrote a feature review to present the facts to you the modeler to decide for yourself.

MiG-25PD/PDS Feature Review

Editor's note: We give this kit a 75% considering all the "accuracy" issues. If these don't matter, this kit is more like a 85-90% - with the only real issue being the lack of intakes and the overcomplicated build.

We hear from Kittyhawk that there MAY be updates to the tooling forthcoming on future releases (We have already seen the PU, RB and BM variants), so we are hopeful of a fix in the near future!

As always stay tuned to RedStars for the latest on all your Russian/Soviet/Eastern Bloc modeling!
Highs: It's an all-new 1:48 MiG-25, and that should be more than enough for most. It is orders, upon orders of magnitude better than the ancient Revell kit. The surface detail in the kit is on par with the best the industry has to offer.
Lows: Lack of intakes, cross-sectional shape issues that will matter more to some than others. Over-complicated build to accommodate multiple variants from the base tooling.
Verdict: It's a new MiG-25. Outside of the hard-core accuracy modelers, everyone else that has the kit loves it. We recommend it highly. It will build into a large and impressive model of this Cold War icon!
