introduction
Besides the fantastic 1/10 bust series ,Young Miniatures from Korea have nice sculpted and high quality casted 70 mm and 90 mm historical and military resin figures.
YM – 9002 represents a U.S. Tank Crew in European theater of World War II in a relaxing pose.
box
The figure comes in standard Young Miniatures black color heavy cardboard box inserted in a transparent sleeve. The front cover of the box shows the photo of the figure painted by
Young B.Song that can serve as a painting guide.
Big parts are carefully placed between 2 thick slabs of polyfoam. Small parts are gathered in a plastic bag and placed on a seperate polyfoam to avoid any kind of damage. Really a very nice packing.
parts
The figure is 90 mm in size( 1/20 in scale), sculpted by
Bodi Krisztian and comes in a total of 11 cream color resin pieces. The casting is very nice and you will have no need for a cleaning process except removing the resin casting blocks.
The parts are ;
Torso : He wears a Winter Combat jacket, which was popularly known as Tanker Jacket over his shirt. The jacket has knit wool collar, waistband and cuffs. There is a metal front zipper with a wind flap and 2 slash pockets on front. The cloth folds and strap of the binoculars on the neck and are all well represented. The neck part is casted as a hole to make the head assembly easier and correct fit. A photo of a U.S. Army tanker jacket can be seen here.
Legs : As the companion of tanker jacket, he wears Winter Combat Trousers also known as Tanker Overalls. It has adjustable suspenders, zip front, 2 side zip pass through pockets and snap cinch cuffs. Cloth folds are well represented but IMO a little exaggreated on the back side. A part of the canvas belt and magazine pouch are also sculpted on this part. A photo of the tanker overall can be seen here.
Head : He wears a M1941 wool knit cap which was also known as jeep cap or nicknamed as beanie. The cap had a short visor and ear flaps that could be turned up against the side of the hat or worn down over the ears as needed for the weather. It was soft and could be folded into a pocket when not needed. The facial details, hair and cap are well defined. A photo of the jeep cap can be seen here.
Boots : He wears brown leather paratrooper style boots. The details of the boots are well defined and right/left pairs can be distinguished between easily. They make good fit to the holes on the legs.
Upper arms : The arms of the tanker jacket are sculpted up folded. He carries E-6 Staff Sergeant rank insignia on both arms and Armored Division triangular shoulder sleeve insignia on his left arm. The boxart shows the insignia painted as 3rd Armored Division –Spearhead. The cloth folds, wool cuffs and badges are well represented.
Hands : Right hand is posed to put his hand on his waist next to the holster. He carries a wrist watch on his left hand, the thumb is inserted in his pocket and fingers are shaped as holding a cigarette.
Holster : He carries a Colt M1911 Cal.45 in brown leather holster. It makes a good fit to the hole on the right side. A photo of the holster and gun can be seen here.
Binoculars
Figure Base : A very nice figure base with damaged cobblestone texture and some rubble. A broken Teddy bear is added to the base a great touch.
painting
The box shows a photo of the figure that can be used as a painting reference. Unfortunately, there is no other painting guide included in the kit but Young Miniatures website offers many nice photos of the painted figure. Please visit US Tank Crew WWII >A.D .
Conclusion
