introduction
As a result of his constant researchs on historical books and videos about the Vietnam War,
Vladimir Demchenko always finds new ideas for very nice posed Vietnam figures and his great talent on sculpting adds more and more realistic figures to his company
BRAVO-6 product line.
One of the latest releases
B6-35024 includes two figures - a Navy SEAL element armed with M-60 carrying a wounded teammate.
about the figure
U.S. Navy SEALs (Sea, Air & Land) served in Vietnam between 1962 and 1972, primarily in the Mekong Delta. Operating in seven man teams, they were typically well camouflaged and carried a tremendous amount of firepower. In addition to their offensive operations ; SEALs also trained and advised their Vietnamese counterparts, the Lien Doc Nguoi Nhia, and supported LDNN (Vietnamese SEALs) coastal missions in North Vietnam. The SEALs fearsome appearance and extraordinary combat success prompted the Viet Cong to nickname them
Devils with Green Faces. At the war’s height, eight SEAL platoons were in Vietnam on a continuing rotational basis. The last SEAL platoon departed Vietnam in 1971, and the last SEAL advisor in 1973.
box
The figures come well packed in standard BRAVO-6 light brown 50x80x25 mm cardboard box . The front part of the box shows a photo of the assembled and painted figures which can serve as a painting guide.
The parts are represented with the casting blocks and parts of each figure are seperately inserted in a small plastic zip-lock bag to avoid unexpected damages during transfer. Small parts are secured in different plastic bags.
parts
The figures are sculpted by Russian master sculptor and owner of BRAVO-6
Vladimir Demchenko and comes in medium grey resin parts. The resin quality is very good and details are crisp. No air bubbles, excess resin or any casting mistakes on the figure. The junctions between figure parts and casting blocks were well placed and the parts can be easily removed from the blocks with no damage. The figures are again almost ready to prime figures with no or very small need for a cleanwork.
U.S.NAVY SEAL with M-60
The figure comes in 2 body parts and 7 pieces of personal gear. The 2 body parts are the main piece as the body with head and legs and right arm with M-60. Left arm holding the wounded guy is cast together with the wounded figure’s body. Facial details, bandana on the head, long whiskers and moustache are well defined. I felt a little Hulk Hogan look on this figure but I have to admit that I remember some Vietnam SEAL photos I have seen on internet with guys looking like this one. He wears tropical combat uniform painted on tigerstripe camouflage on the boxart. Over his uniform, he has a
Horse Collar UDT Life Preserver Vest . He carries M1956 suspenders and utility belt and a
first aid kit pouch is attached on the back side of the belt. He wears jeans with up-folded trotters and leather-canvas jungle boots.
Right arm : He carries a M-60 with no bipod and fed from ammo box. The details of the weapon are well defined.
Other parts are;
M1956 one quart canteen - 2 pieces
U.S. Navy Mk.2 Model Knife
M1956 Small arms case or compass pouch
Box magazine for M-60
M-60 ammo bag. It is a cotton bag containing a waxed cardboard box, which could contain 100 rounds of M60 ammunition.
Wounded Navy SEAL
The figure comes in 3 body parts and 3 pieces of personal gear. The main part is body with head and legs. He has a right pulled beret on his head which is painted in tigerstripe camouflage on this figure and facial details are well defined. He wears an ammunition carry coat. Depending on the position of pockets;it seems this one is a Type II Bouyant Grenadier style carry coat. The details of the coat are well defined. He has jungle trousers with cargo pockets on the sides and as for the footgear; he has Coral swim shoes.Injured right leg is secured with a stick tied with straps on the knee and ankle.Left arm of the first SEAL figure is cast on the left leg of this figure.
Right arm : Posed to carry the rifle. Hand is cast on the weapon.
Left arm : Left hand of the first figure is cast on this part grabbing the wrist.
Other parts are;
Rifle : He carries a modified SEAL weapon - XM-148 - a combination of rifle and grenade launcher.
M1956 one quart canteen - 2 pieces
U.S. Navy Mk.2 Model Knife
M1956 small arms case or compass pouch
conclusion
Another very nice kit that can be displayed alone or that can be a part of a fantastic Vietnam SEALs diorama. It is sculpted in great details and cast in high quality.
