:-) I saw this store before in Glorietta on the third floor w/ lots of display aircraft, armor & ship models mostly Tamiya & they're also selling models, then nawala na yung display nilang models.

Please don't "quote-the-quote". Third floor? The one in Red Lane? I don't recall them having any scale-model-kits before eh, but then again I could be wrong.

I've been doing a lot of recon around the Sta Cruz area in preparation for next year's D-Day. On what street is STC located? I've almost stepped on some horse pies scanning the area in vain.

Hey there guys. Just thought i'd mention that there's a new? store, up at the top most level of the Shangri-La Mall, Shaw Blvd., selling scale models, paints & other modelling accessories. Think the store's name is "Urban ___". They also specialize in guns, survival eqpt. and the like. Think they're a re-seller of STC's bec. they sell mostly DML and Academy kits. Thought you might want to check it out.

Dennis :-)

Thanks Dennis! I've been prowling Shangri-La but I didn't know exactly where Urban was. Is it near the computer shops?

Jeepney,

Ive been to that shop before. Its on the same level as that hardware store (Handyman, I think). There isnt much to see there, though. Well, at least nothing out of the ordinary.

Funny, I saw an Olfa razor saw at Urban selling at P500+. But if you go to the hardware store accross youd find the same thing selling at about P450.

ANNOUNCEMENT:

The price of models will go up soon! Buy your kits now while you can still afford them! Epfeejay has just announced his Presidential candidacy!

There goes the country...

I envy Blitz sitting nonchalantly in Maple Leaf land watching his beloved country with amusement in his eyes.

Heres one for you guys. Pag nanalo si FPJ we will have sour relations with Japan. Galit ang bansang Hapon kay FPJ dahil maraming pinatay na hapones si FPJ.

Oh boy! The country is getting nearer to it's election period again. I would like to think that this is just like a woman's cycle. It is during this time that a lot of crazy things happen, just like when a woman (with apologies to the wives ) has her period. Kidding aside you guys are definitely right, the prices are gona soar sky high when things get screwed again. What is the peso-dollar rate right now? Last I heard twas 55=1. I just hope that the people madla would make the right decision this time. It's not because we are here that we don't care about the state of our country. We have people we care that are left there & we are always proud to be Filipinos whereever we are in the world. That's why what happens there affects us too.

Katipunan:
Forgot the name. Nasa street sa tapat ng Gate 3 ng Ateneo. Malapit sa KFC Katipunan.

I know this is a very old thread but here goes anyway. That store's name was "EG's Hobby Corner". I opened that store in Sept. of 2000 because of the Mini4WD insanity. But because I am a modeler, I did stock it with kits and displayed built models, mostly from the guys at IPMS Phils.-BAC. I'm not a prolific modeler like Buck, but I do collect(just like most of us). Most of the 1/72nd aircraft you may have seen there are Buck's(his modesty is false, believe me ) Sadly I had to close the store as it was no longer tenable Most of my remaining stock I turned over to Natalie(JMN). I also owned the hobby shop at Shangrila Mall "FUTABA". I was there from 1993 to 1998. Aside from the kits I also sold RC planes and choppers. The first Asian crisis of 1997 was the one that killed that store. Plus the fact that management wanted to revise my rent. Needless to say it isn't easy to run a "pure" hobby shop. JMN, Lil's and the rest have other inventory that help defray the operating costs. Unfortunately, I could not afford to do so. Maybe someday.......

The hobby shop at Virra Mall, B&D Hobbies was owned by Fred Cajolis, and you may have seen Mel "Webster" Silvestre manning the shop at times. I also loved that store as it was a "pure" hobby shop. That's where I saw Albert Labrador's "Battle of Caen" dio. Fantastic!!!

So to those who have patronozed the shop(s) that I operated, I thank you very much. Perhaps when we push through with our eyeball, I may recognize some of you. And the invitation to attend and join IPMS Phils.-BAC is always offered.

Oh MY! That was yours! I bought a bunch of your stuff that was on consignment, and if I remember correctly, I bought my first kit since I started AGAIN in the hobby there! The VW New Bettle!

Ganda pa naman nang mga presyo mo. Plus yeah, I remember the stuff displayed out front, and the AC's, naks, itong si buck pala o. (:-)

Hello again.. and welcome Bull.
Oh wow, I also purchase some items from Shangri-la, there was another store in Shangri-la that sells trains, is it still running? I think Ping Malay consigned some of my models in your store.... Any news of Fred Cajolis?
daming tanong, reminiscing the past.. it's really good to hear from you guys back home and now I'm starting to wonder what happened to SMCP members, .. except for Ping Malay and Don Victorio who joined IPMS-BAC..I really hope to see you guys in the future.. and maybe drop by in your meeting...

Bull! Glad you showed up! A warm welcome to you!

Buti ka pa marunong ka nang gumamit ng mga "emoticons". And that photo is VERY APPROPRIATE.

Fiawrc:
Actually I had to edit it around 10 times before I got the hang of it LOL! Binubura ko yung mga symbols e yun na pala yung mga emoticons. Glad to finally be here. As for the Avatar, it was screaming at me!

Jomz:
Thanks for the patronage. Just let me know if I can still help you or anyone on this forum with regards to modeling. I may not have a store anymore but all my connections are intact.

Blitz:
Fred would drop by once in a while at JMN, although Talie hasn't seen him lately. The "Orient Express" owned by Sid Garcia has been renamed to "The Hobby Shop", still located in ShangriLa. Although he has shifted his efforts to promoting the 1/32nd line of slot cars(Fly, Ninco, etc.). The shop still has some train stuff left but the stocks are dwindling. I don't know if he plans to continue this trend as I think the train inventory was more feasible. Donn and Ping are very active in IPMS. I'll mention you to them. As for other SMCP members, I wouldn't know where they are right now. Even Talie has lost contact with most of them. Atty. Jun Soriano is still around if you wanted to know, although he's into die cast at present. My best to you over that side of the Pacific!

Cheers!

Hi Jomz:

Send me an email of what you would want to have, a wish list of sorts and I'll see what I can do. We make orders to the online shops as a group para mura ang shipping.
