OK, I'll start this off....

My First build will be Tamiya's 1/48th bubbletop as 43-3136 D3-K 397th FS 368th FG. I'm using Eagle Strike Decals and Alclads (as usual)

Hopefully if I get one for Christmas my second build will be Hasgawa's 1/32 bubbletop.

Cheers

Im undecided as to what I'm going to build first.
I wanted to do the Hasegawa 1:32nd "Zemkes Wolkpack" M, but the fusalage fillet is wrong for that plane. (The 1:48th kit included the fillet as a resin part, why not the 1:32nd ??? )
I may proceed directly to the VFS 1:24th D
Im also going to build another Tamiya "M", mayeb another 63rd FS as I just love that 2 tone blue camo!

After much debate with myself and searching I have settled not on one but possibly 2 for this build.

First wil be the Ole Cock III fome the From the 61st FS 56th FG.

The Second will be the look No Hands from the 509th FG 405 FS

Hopefully both will be done for the group build.

This is the kit I will be using for Ole Cock III.

Originally she was going to be the Look No Hands. She isn't a D-30 So I had to switch but never fear I have a 30 on the way.. Don't know if it comes with the fillet but haven't looked either. Good excuse to get 2 kits thought.

T-minus 25 and a half days til lift off . But whose counting??

I see all my ideas getting snapped up very quickly,,LOL.
Paul, Ole Cock III was a D-26, so to be totally accurate you would need the ribbed cockpit floor for your build.

Oh God not that again Yes I remeber Nige thanks for the reminder.

The kit itself has the smooth floor but the Big Ed Photoetch has the corrigations for it. (pictures of both to follow shortly).

Have not decided whether to get the Resin Set for her or try to scratch the floor out myself.

We won't even get into the Prop Stuff yet

I'll be doing the 1/48 Tamiya Razorback using an Eagle Strike sheet for "Yankee Tarheel" of 510 F.S. 405 F.G.

OD finish with blue canopy frames and stripes appeals to me.

Go fo rth e1/24th one Nige the only drawback I see with it is.. The only choice of decals you have so far is the ones in the kit..

Been looking around for ya, but no joy yet. Only other thing I can think of is. As big as it would be you could probably free hand and decals you want.

I am anxious to get started. Not quite sure what to tackle out of the stash. I have 3 Academy kits, 2 Ds and one N. Nigel, my vote is to see the 1/24th kit tackled.

Hi all.
I am starting to err towards the 1:24th kit actually
For decal options I have a sheet from the next VFS release to choose from as well.Cant remember all the options at the moment as the day after I got the sheet I came on tour again,,LOL. Sure one of them is Ole Cock III though.

Sweet... Mine would have a "BIG" brother in the build. Besides all I would have to do is wait for you to choose the Prop and I would just copy you .

If push came to shove I could just cut off one of the I's on the decal and it could be the OLE' COCK II. Because logic would have you believe that if there is a 3. There had to be a one and 2 at some point.

I am also trying to secure a D-30 for the "Look No Hands as well" (X-mas is coming you know).

So go ahead Nige dive into it. If you going to go all out you may as well go "BIG".

Paul

Quick question though:

When can would you like us to start posting pics of the materials of our plans in the build logs?

Build blogs start Jan 1st guys:)
Please use the sub section "Cave Tonitrum", its in the options for that section of the forum.
I will open an Official Campaign thread on that day and lock the pre campaign thread. Then you can run riot with your build blogs, and who knows, I may even be at home so I can join in the fun

I've narrowed it down either The Bug or La Mort or sleepy jean or Lanowski's bird Then again who knows what I''ll actually wind up with but these are the top runners right now.

Credit crunch anybody?
Good move actually, buy a kit that will take a year (in my case) to build and ride out the storm

Nice choice Andy.
The nmf/blue band RAF T'bolt I built is one of my favourites.
Its a very good looking scheme.
We will have to display them together next year sometime

Well I think I have made up my mind on what to try first for the Campaign. I will be attempting Academys P47D bubble top. I have heard a few bad things about the cowling, but I have several academy 47s and there is no time like the present to find out for myself.

I was looking at the thread and did not catch that any one was trying the 506th FS "Black Panther", but if someone has claimed it let me know. Looking forward to the New Year. I will get started as soon as I finish the Mustang currently taunting me from my bench
