Hi all,
I've just finished watching the movie Fighter Squadron.made in 1948 its tells the story of a P-47 unit fighting them darn nazis.

Not the greatest movie ever made but it does have some great Thunderbolt footage both on the ground and in flight.
Also I love the fact that the German aircraft are played by P-51 Mustangs.and the P-47s get to shoot them down (It's good to see P-51 getting their butts kicked by Thunderbolts.)

So if you get a chance see it,even if you right it off as research

Cheers

Hi Chris, I agree. It is funny seeing P-51's playing the German fighters and P-47's kicking their butts. I also dig the footage of P-47's they have in the movie. You can see so many different group markings on them.

The movie was accurate in that they were tied to the bombers, but when Doolittle took over the 8th, he freed up the fighters to seek out the enemy and destroy them. They used bombers as bait so to speak.
