Is there a company that makes decals for Roman (1st cen. BC - 4th cen. AD) shield designs, and Celtic (6th cen. BC - 1st cen. AD) shield designs, in 54-60 mm? I used to be able to paint them, but they are really time consuming, and my eyes and hands aren't what they ued to be!

Tommi from planetFigure did offer some stencils/masks for shields in various scales. I'm not sure if he's still making them though... check this link:

Hmmm...interesting, but 8 pounds is a little more than I want to pay. Would be economical if I was doing several Romans of the same unit/legion. And I'd much rather use decals (greatly reduced possibility of making a mess!). Besides, I have more Celts to paint and their shield designs can be more intricate than Roman.

I have toyed with the idea after my M18 smoke grenades decals sold very well. Just need to find the time to finish off the art work.
Biggle2, would you like outline decals or full colour ones?
Cheers Jason
PS, once the art work is done, it's not hard to change each image to different scales.

I'm surprised no one has already done this. Border Miniatures made some nice decals, but they are only for medievals. For some applications I can use model RR decals ie: checkerboard, and stripes, But the Celts also used stylized floral and (especially) horse designs, which are way too difficult for me to hand paint neatly. Do you have the neccessary reference for these designs? Tim Newark/Angus McBride (Concord Pulications)provide many references and inspiration for Celtic Shield designs. If you'd like to contact me directly please leave me a message. Thanks.
