I may start with Trumpeter KV-2 "Big turret", when I have chance..it's nearly half-done kit.

Thankyou for all your kind comments on my T-34. Its really rekindled my love of building armour and reminded me how much more I enjoy modelling them than aircraft which I mainly build.

Antonio, I'm thinking of getting the SU-152 for my birthday this week, such a beast of an AFV! Will probly build it for the upcoming Trumpeter campaign.

Hi people. Things are getting warmed up i see. Nice kits are going to be built for this one. Kind of make me feel ashamed for the kit i used to join in. Well i managed to build most of it, and it is now primered. Next stop paint and tracks.
One question though if anyone knows the answer. Although i looked into it i did not find one. Do you know what color the heads of the ammo for ASU 57's main gun should be?

Howdy Y'all
I got a little more work in today. I'm procrastinating building the dreaded link & length track that only fits if you do something with the idler. I tried the Vallejo Model Air #223 Green and #225 Light Green on the wheels. I'll glue them on and continue next week-end.

Take care-Don "Lakota"

Hi all,

some update on my work. The kit is an beauty to build and the fit is very well, only minor seams and crevices. Still awaiting the tracks, they're on order from HLJ.

have fun and keep building.

Well, better late than never and hope it's okay... my entry:

I think I'll need new tracks and this kit will need a lot of dry fitting too.

It looks like I'm almost done with this one. It really went together quickly. I still have to address a couple of things, but it's mostly done. I might add a crew and try a couple of other things before declaring it done.

Jeff,

I did that one years ago.
It was a fun project, easy build. I used the kit's tracks.

Here's a review

I DO remember that and seeing it... looked great to me!

I just really like the JS-3 and T-10 tanks so it was a no brainer for this Campaign. Just the tracks are a little suspect but my LHS has the Trumpeter branded track kit so I may trot up there and get them.

Too bad they don't sell them pre-sagged!

Jeff,
That's a great kit. I built it a few years ago and went with the Egyptian version. I've got it displayed next to an overall green Tamiya JS-3. The only issue I remember are the side skirts and them being a little temperamental.

I need to do a little homework and see if I want to backdate it before the M and what paint & origin I want.

First I need to get some tracks!

Alex that's a really nice SU you have there. Good work.

Well since the first build i started is ''small'', i decided to start a second one for this campaign. It's Zvezda's BT 5. A few mods are in order though, like the air intake grill and the exhaust. I hope it's not a problem that i did not post a pic before i started since this is the second one i started for this campaign.

hello, all the builds look very good.

I am going to do a Tamiya t-34/76 1943 the rubber tracks in the box are not my favorites by any means so having said that any ideas on some aftermarket tracks that might fit this kit.

Thanks and Cheers

Sascha,
AFV Club has a set for around $25. RPM used to have a set you can still find for around $5-10...for their age they're actually nice. I used a set of those on an old Tamiya T-34-85. Cheaper than Fruils.

Another idea is to pick up CyberHobby's T-34-85m. It's a great kit in it's own right. You can get it for the price of the AFV track set and it comes with two sets of tracks; a set of Magic Track and the older on-sprue Dragon indie tracks. I used the latter on my SU-100.

Hope that helps.

Hey guys, I made a start on my KV-2 the other night after deciding I couldn't wait for AM parts

So this one will be OOB. So far it is a very nice kit, a couple of hull seems will need filling but that's all part of the fun.

Cheers

Tristan nice clean work with your KV "Big Target" eehhmmm turret i meant.. . How is the fit? I have a Trumpy KV waiting to be built at some point and i was wondering about it. Every comment i read says something different about the issue.

I got more work done on the BT 5. Tried to do something better about the air intake grill. Both kits are primered and waiting to get some paint. 3 models total on the wait for Russian green.

Question about the red primer use: Is it a personal preference for the product or does it help in weathering.

I know some armor modelers use red on german tanks to later chip away at top coats to reveal the german red primer underneath. Did the Soviet made tanks of that era use red primer?
