Hi,
I thought this might make for an interesting discussion and a chance to make recommendations. What are we all watching on tv?
A series I came across recently was BBC4's Brian Pern A Life in Rock. A brilliantly written and acted mockumentary on the fictitious 70's prog band Thotch and lead singer Brian Pern (clearly based on Genesis and Peter Gabriel). Very funny, but relied on the audience knowing the references. A lot of well known faces in the music world make frequent cameos. Rik Wakeman in particular seems to be in every episode.

Civil discussion of course.

Heard of Vikings but not come across it yet. Probably one of those shows that no uk network has bought yet.

I'm also watching Star Trek: DS9 and Babylon 5 on dvd. B5 has always been one of my favourites. A misunderstood and often unfairly criticized series.

For UK shows I used to love Red Dwarf and the Sharpe Series

Red Dwarf was brilliant! Not only a great spoof but well written SF in it's own right. I always loved the gag about how going to red alert involved changing the bulbs. I can't watch Star Trek without thinking of that. And the model effects were superb. I would do anything for a quality kit of Starbug.

Steven, Brian Pern A Life in Rock sounds like a lot of fun. Genesis was a favorite group of mine before Gabriel left. Same with Yes back when my hair was long & black not grey & balding Unfortunately we don't get that here in the States. Maybe in the future.....
I just finished a BBC/AMC collaboration mini series Marathon, The Night Manager. 9 hours of TV about shady arms dealing. Very Good !So I have some hope to see Brian Pern.
Others are:
12 Monkeys on Syfy
Wynona Earp also on Syfy
Orphan Black a BBC show
The Magicians, another Syfy show
The Americans on FX
The Tiny House series
Archer on ???, an R rated cartoon about spies
Green Bay Packer Football in the Fall
No wonder I never seem to have enough time at the bench building !
But Red Dwarf was a fun show and early Dr Who. Another show I liked was MI-5.

You might enjoy it then ivanhoe6. It's very short, only 3 series so far of 3 episodes each. Well worth looking out for.
I caught Archer a few times and enjoyed it, but then it switched channels and schedule.

Vikings -- definitely a favorite. Have to catch up on Season 4 though, as I missed a couple of episodes. History Channel used to be my default but their programs of late have not "historical" as I would have wanted it. The Pawn Shop guys provide some entertainment from time to time.

Old TV programs -- one I like best is the Sherlock Holmes series starring Jeremy Brett. Older still would be Rod Serling's Twilight Zone. Went as far as getting the DVD set and the accompanying book.

Have to admit to being a huge Sci-fi fan and they're often my go to box sets when all else fails.
I loved Babylon 5. Fantastic series from start to finish. The early CGI looks a little ropey compared to what we see today but it was ground breaking stuff back in the day.
Also loved Star Trek TOS, TNG and DS9. Could never get into Voyager at the time but I may give it another watch at some point. And I thought Stargate SG1 was a great series too. Never took itself too seriously which I liked.
A great old series I caught a while ago was BBC's Colditz from the 1970's. Just brilliantly made and a great cast.

Game of Thrones

Stranger Things

Recently finished watching Stranger Things. What a show! Brilliant story and the kids were fantastic actors. I can see them all doing very well in the future. What I especially liked was all the homages to all those classic 80's shows and movies. Can't wait for the next series.

Tried twice to get into Game of Thrones but I couldn't get into it. I found a lot of it a bit distasteful.

Even though it's mid-season for television, I was recently watching "Long Road Home" on National Geographic (it was ok - the beginning of it, though, reminded me of "Black Hawk Down").

Other stuff:

Berlin Station (Epix)

Once Upon a Time (I watch to look at the the women!) (ABC)

Gold Rush [Big machines digging in the dirt for gold - what could be better!?!?] (Discovery)

The Expanse (SyFy - should be back in February or so)

Better Call Saul (AMC)

Fargo (FX)

College football (Let's go Bucks!)

Homicide Hunter

The Joy of Painting

The Woodwright's Shop

I work in film in Vancouver and as a result not much time to watch TV. I do like the BBC shows on PBS and old shows on "METV". I also like American Horror Story, The Americans, Philip K Dick's Electric Dreams, The Exorcist, Man in the Highcastle, X Files, and a few others. For reality, I like Cops, The First 48 and 60 Days In,Highway Through Hell and Heavy Rescue 401.

Heavy Rescue 401 - sounds interesting! Who carries that show?

Doctor Who is about the only thing I watch regularly. Youtube videos from Andy's Hobby HQ and Tim Tracker fill in the little I watch TV.

It's a Discovery show about the notorious hwy in Ontario; it is an offshoot off Highway through Hell which is BC based. If you like big trucks and wreckers it's entertaining.

Thanks! I'll try to find it in the channel line-up.
