Hello gents,

I have been looking over tons of build threads and love the PE work y'all do. I can't wait to get my feet wet, but I have a question: What do you guys think is the most effective way to get rid of the premolded parts? For example, anchor chains. I see them cast into the plastic on almost every model and yet, they seem to disappear in the next picture. How do you guys get rid of them so cleanly?

I used to simply scrape them off with sharp blade and try and clean up as best as I could.

Lately however I am using a set of miniature hobby chisels I got from micro mark, which are superb for removing items from flat surfaces.

Their narrow profile also means they can often be used to get into tighter spaces than a knife blade, and with careful use can remove details with very minimal cleanup.
Curved surfaces need a bit more attention but they are still useful.

I purchased a cheap, mini-grinder from Harbor Freight. I used it to sharpen flat-head screwdrivers. Cheap screwdrivers make great chisels.
