Holdfast.....HobbyBoss' painting instruction shows a two-colour camouflage-scheme, but it's a three-colour scheme.
But this kit contains even more mistakes that I fell for.
The rear part of the fuselage (from height gunner) was made of wood. HobbBoss did not play that correctly.
In addition, the decals are not quite correct and are very difficult to process.
Thanks, OK I thought that you were talking about colours but I have recently bought Russian colours from MR. Paint but that's interesting to know and I have a magazine article that shows the painting of this aircraft.
I have just taken a look at the kit parts of the fuselage and see that there are horizontal panel lines around it. Did you simply fill these? Models that I have seen, showing the wooden structure show bands of wooden strips at an angle around the fuselage. So based on that, assuming that is correct? Then there wouldn't be any panel lines?
I'm not worried about the decals, apart from any stencil data, as I will be having a different scame and I will be painting on the markings :

Hi mates!!!
Thanks, I'm glad that you like my russian "flying tank".
I can remember that my grandfather (he was in russia in WWII) told me a several times about the Shturmovik and the respect and fear of the german soldiers about this aircraft.

Lovely paintwork on your new "Flying Tank", as we can expect from you, Stefan. I especially like the nice tail art on it. Some Soviet aircraft had really colourful artwork. I believe, I'll see this Il-2 in Stetten next weekend? I'll also have some Red Stars on my tables then.
See you!

Stefan,
A most impressive build for sure. Your painting and weathering really has created the feel & look of a well used Soviet aircraft.

Nicely done Stefan, I have one of these it is indeed a nice kit. How are the painting instructions wrong? I'm not fully up to speed on Soviet colours

Excellent work Stefan and it is surprising just how big the aircraft is. Really nice job with this one - well done!

Hi folks!!!
Here's my new IL-2M3 "Shturmovik" from HobbyBoss in 1/32 scale.
A nice kit, but in some parts a little bit tricky to assemble. Also the painting instructions are not correct.
Colors from Revell, Gunze and Vallejo.
It shows the IL-2M3 "White 1", flown by the "Hero of the Soviet Union" Ivan F. Pavlov.
Cheers
Stefan
