1/35th scale railroad trackage from SABRE

Having just picked up my copy of the SSyms Schwerer Plattformwagen by Sabre from my LHS. (Scale Reproductions in Louisville, KY) I noticed one thing of particular interest:

The display trackage can be built as either curved or straight track at the modeler's wim. This offers a pleasant departure from the track offered by other hobby manufactures which comes in either straights or curved sections accompanied by a rather massive road bed. (However, please note, the Sabre trackage does not come with the massive roadbed that Dragon and Trumpeter offer.)

One possible fly in the ointment:

Others have noticed slight track gauge and rail height misalignments when paring the Sabre track with that of other manufactures.

Hi Michael. Those were my concerns too, matching 2 different tracks. Manufacturers Sabre and MiniArt make tracks that actually fit with no height problems. I don't understand why Sabre have the odd looking size difference in length of the sleepers. IMHO they look a little over the top.
The tracks and mountings are of good quality with nice bolts added. MiniArt let you add / glue the inner section of the mounting to fix the tracks in position.
I'm planning for a mix of both sleepers to be used.

Match of two tracks, MiniArt & Sabre Models
Sleeper test / match

I'll make some new photos to show how the track height matches.
Also brands that do not match, for nominal reasons.

Kind regards,

Robert Jan

If height of the railhead is the only problem we can shim to adjust for that however slight differences in track gauge or rail cross section would be more problematic.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for showing us Sabre track.

Can you show us photos of it with track already offered by Dragon, Trumpeter?

So, how does the Sabre model track with a curve in it actually work? There is some appeal in that....

Regards,
Phil
