Hi guys,

hailing from the dark side(armor modelling). I think about building a Korean War Skyraider. I know that Zoukei Mura makes only Vietnam model, while Trumpeter does the Korea model. How good is the Trumpeter release? Worth building OOTB?

Hi Hans-Herman.

I had (both) and then sold the Z-M kit as I simply did not need (or want to waste time) on building and painting all the internals that you will never see anyway. I am no 'expert' on the subject but details wise, the Trump kit (I have the USAF 'J' version) looked every bit as good in the box as the Z-M one did and much cheaper too.

Trumpeter kit came with loads of ordnance whereas I think from memory, the Z-M kit just had drop tanks and you had to buy weapons like bombs and rockets separate...but I will stand corrected on that if my memory of the kit is in error.

I would however strongly recommend the Z-M 1/32 Skyraider (USAF) weapons kit which they sold separately as they are much better detained and look more accurate that the Trumpeter kit supplied weapons do.

I hope this helps and whilst the experts on this aircraft may have more to say on the subject, in the box and having see a couple built up as full models at shows, the Trumpeter kit looks excellent and seems to be one of their much better 1/32 efforts.

Cheers.
Gary

Hi Gary,
thanks for the opinion. I am also leaning toward the Trumpeter release. First because of the price and second because of the Korea markings. I think I will spend the money saved in a resin
cockpit.

Pleasure Hans-Hermann. If you get the Trump kit you certainly won't regret it. The Z-M Skyraider Weapons set is a must though as a lot of the Trump kit weapons are of questionable shape and accuracy.

Best regards.
