Back at the end of June I started the AMT 1966 Ford Mustang Hardtop. It's coming along, and I am please with the progress so far.





Body is painted with Tamiya Dark Green TS-2, and it does need a couple of coats for Tamiya Clear.

I've been a Ford guy since my Dad bought a 1954 Fairlane with 3 on the column. Funny, but the only Ford I've ever owned was a 1970 Mustang hard top. Lets just say that 302 wasn't exactly pure stock for the street. She was Red with a custom Red/Black hood. and the mandatory Black interior . Sold her after our 10 year love affair with 140k on the Odometer .

I always liked the Green with black interior since Steve McQueen in Bullet.

As D said, the interior is really looking quite good. Can't wait for your update with the body clear glossed and all polished up.

My mother owned a 1966 or 1967 Mustang convertible. I only know this because I've seen photos of it in here wedding album. The I came along, and the car went bye bye! I think it was either white or a very pale blue.

Mustang Sally! Guess you better slow your Mustang down! (Apologies to Wilson Picket.) I'm calling the 1966 Ford Mustang done! Build wasn't too bad. Fit was ok; not great, but ok. It looks like a 1966 Mustang to me, and that's what counts in the long run. This is probably as close as I'll ever get to actually owning a 1966 Ford Mustang, and I've wanted one since I was in high school. That was a long time ago. Guess if I really thought about it, I should have built this for the Dreams Are For Free Group Build, but alas, too late now.

I did add a rearview mirror from the parts box.

Thanks, guys. I might just have to since my mother did own a convertible Mustang before I came along. The convertible top in the open position is actually included in the kit. AMT probably uses the same trees for several Mustang kits; they just change out the body. I think Revell did a 1964-1/2 Mustang convertible, so that's an option.

I thought Revell Germany made the 64-1/2, but I might just have to go with the Tamiya Ford Mustang GT4 car. Don't have any modern race cars in my collection.
