Hi, I purchased an Iwata HP-CS airbrush and have been so impressed, not only with what the AB can do but, also how it has enabled me to achieve such fantastic results after a very short time, as a newcomer to the technique. However after using my AB to apply base colours to my models, I wanted to apply camouflage. The results I have achieved so far are 'adequate' , at best and I have become frustrated at not being able to get fine, almost speckled appearance. Sorry to have taken so long to get to my question but, Do I need a second AB that will give me really fine results that are in scale with the rest of the model? I have reduced the pressure and made my paint thinner as advised. Can I simply use a small needle and nozzle jet in my existing AB? Thanks in advance for any help. Watto.

Hi,
You have an excellent tool and should not need a second one, it is just a matter of practice.

Play with pressure, dilution, how far you pull the trigger back and distance to target... For thin lines you need to be very close to the model and spray little paint (trigger not full backwards).

The rear lock is very useful, you can screw it in completely and start airbrushing on a paper -no paint will be sprayed. Then at the same time, unscrew it until paint comes off so you can leave it there to continue on the model. Hope I have been able to explain it...

In any case, you may already know that for hard edge camo, there is no other way than masking.

Hope to see you on the new forum next time
