Lauren:
Very nice work indeed. You should be proud. At first I thought the preshading looked a bit heavy, but after studying it for awhile I kind of like the effect. The rust streaks are done well too. What scale is this vessel?
Thanks for showing us your work.

Once you understand the system..... :-)
I must say I LOVE that sub! I hope my VIIC will turn out like that too, it looks really cool!
Which colours did you use?

Holy Smokes!
Lauren it's great! Man that came out looking sweet!
Is that the DML 1/350th kit?
She's sweet to be sure. I like the shading on the panel lines as well. It really makes them pop and then when taken in with the whole sub, it just...works well!
Like Martin said, I hope my VIIC comes out looking as nice, though it's the Lil' VIIC this time around.
Yeah she looks fantastic!

Thanks guys! The kit was a mistake. I won what was supposed to be a Special Hobby 1/144 U-571 Type VII-C on Ebay. When I got it in the mail and opened the box, it had a Type XXI and instructions inside so I don't really know the scale, I'll stick with what the original box said. It turned out for the best since I have 4 each of a type VII and Type IX on the shelf but no XXI. As for the paint, MM spray enamel primer, Tamiya acrylic German Gray and Light Gray for the 2-color scheme. Lower hull pre-shaded with Black and upper hull with German Gray. About 3-4 color coats, each successive one lightened with white, spraying a smaller area in each panel. Seam lines were done with Windsor Black oil paint. Scopes and schnorkel were hand painted with Humbrol enamels. MM Flat Lacquer overcoat. We'll see how we do in Seattle tomorrow. Cheers!!!!
