Hey everybody. Just to let you see (and to prove myself I'm still working on it).
The base of the dio takes shape and some figures (ICM and Tamiya) are getting their colours...
I'm making some trees for it also. You can see it at the picture, it's still a bit rough and wrongly green.
(The GAZ is not planned for the dio, just there for the measures)

Comments and critics always welcome!

Looking very nice! Awesome weathering on the tank. I'm going to try clothes pegs for painting figures, seems like a good idea.

Where did you get/how did you make the tree?

Hi Paul,

That looks cool already! That tree is huge but I think it will be a great addition. Maybe a suggestion for the figs (fig newbie as I'm : Try to make some more shading on the uniform. I think that the colours are a bit monotone.

Keep up the great work and keep us updated!!

Hey!

Thanks for the nice comments!

Dave, the tree I made from a piece of rounded balsa wood. I 'sharpened' it so that the top is smaller than the bottom. I coloured the tree and than drill (or push with a little screwdriver) small holes is it where I want the branches and foliage. These are from Bush, a German manufactor for model railroading supplies.
There's an article about making trees in the 'features section' (in the menu on the left of your screen )
The roots are from Andrea sculp; they make a great impression, but for the russion dio I will cut the off for 2 reasons: first, the roots will be covered with snow, because it's gonna be a winter dio, second... I was a bit to enthousiast making the tree 3 cm to high for my showcase...

Jurjen, You are right; the figures are somewhat flat and monotone indeed. But they are in progress and I just focused on head and hands and the clothes are still in basic colours. A bit black outlining and so.
I like working on figures, I don't know how to write it in English but in Dutch we say: 'lekker prutten'

:-)
