Well guys, it's coming down to the wire for the DDD Sub Campaign. Boy did the time fly by! I'm disappointed that I didn't get to complete all the subs I wanted, but it looks like I'll get my Ohio done in time, which is what I promised myself I would do. Final painting and decals is all I have left to do. Hopefully that will be done in the next day or two. Then I'll just need to post photo's...that will be my biggest obstacle of the campaign I'm afraid.
I really just want to encourage everyone who enlisted to finish up at least one of the subs you have in the works. I'd love nothing more than to award all 56 Campaign ribbons (which I'll do as soon as I get someone to explain how it's done). I'll do that ASAP after the campaign ends.
I also have another little surprise that will include everyone who actually completes the campaign, but I have to post a photo in order to explain that. More on that later...
Get on them subs guys. There's still plenty of time to build!!

Martin FANTASTIC build paint looks great!!! Did you have any problem painting the whole thing assembled?
Steve
Well I think if I'd built this kit again I wouldn't first assemble the whole kit.....but no real big problems, it's just easier not to assemble everything first

But well...I had such fun in building it....I couldn't stop hahaha :-)
Glad you like it!

Howdy Darryl:
I really hate to admit that other commitments and plain laziness have kept me from actively posting during the build time. My apologies. But I have been seeing what others have done so far, and I am really impressed.
I did manage to finish one of the two subs that I had intended on completing. The one I will be entering after I do a touch of weathering and take pictures will be the Revell Skipjack. It was an awfully painful kit to work on, with a very bad connection of the hull halves. Much sanding, filling, priming, sanding, filling, priming, etc. etc. etc. Overall I'm happy with the results I got from this $4.00 kit.
The sub that got away, but not for good, is the 1/72 revell VIIC U-boat. I will finish it eventually, but nowhere near in time for this campaign.
I guess I'm glad I at least got one done.
Good luck to the rest of you finishing up for the May 30th deadline.
John

Hi Darryl,
I will be there, I actually finished about ten days ago but haven't had time to set up the photos. One T-class coming up!

Great to hear from you guys! I had to scramble to find a couple photo's of the Ohio so I could determine the exact paint scheme I wanted, as I've seen a couple variations and each is different in some way. I think I'm going with the red/black at the center line of the hull.
Martin,
Your Type VII is looking great! I hope mine looks half as good when I decide to build it. I never intended to start it for this campaign because I knew I'd never get it done.
John,
Not to worry...we all have life happening around us. I have work, school, family, and now I'm starting to have a house built in Cumberland, Ky., so my summer will be spent doing all that is associated with those things. I'll also be trying to complete my Dodge Ambulance for the Red Cross Campaign on top of that! We'll see what happens.
Besides, you have the one sub you need to complete the campaign.
Keep at it guys!
