Here's a japanese websited that shows some impressive scratchbuilding work of (mostly) German WWII armor on 1/35. This modeler reaches a degree of perfection that is rarely seen !

Very nice work and good step-by-step photography. And it highlights something very important about modeling: it can transcend the barriers of human language!
