Hey everyone, Mint Hill here, if you aren't familiar, it's next to Charlotte, just to the southeast side of town.

I've been around a long time but haven't checked into this forum until now.

Not living in Nawth Car-lina now, been a Soreback for the past 35 years. I'm still only a hop, skip, and jump away from by birthrite in Caswell County, NC, so I guess I'm still part Tarheel.

I lived in Asheville for five years after service Jon. Loved the place and would have stayed, but work ran out.

I have lurked on here a while, but this is my first post. I'm in Shelby, about 40 miles west of Charlotte. I'm getting back to the hobby that I have dabbled in for 45 years. As someone else mentioned, my fingers don't work as well as they once did. I call myself "digitally challenged", which is a fancy name for "clumsy". But alcohol seems to help.

I'll be arriving at Fort Bragg on Saturday. (6 Sep) While I don't need help finding hobby shops, I would be interested if there are any local club meetings going on in the next month.

I think there is a fairly close club in New Bern, maybe Beaufort. Somewhere right around there, not sure if there are any closer.

Hope Mills, just outside of Fayetteville, originally from SoCal but spent my last 11 years at Ft Bragg and liked here so much, I became a transplant! Great club here with some armor guys (Lafayette Scale Modelers)

Hayes Hobby House off of Bragg BLVD at Eutah shoppoing center. Second
Friday night of the month at 1900. Lafayette Scale Modelers. HHH has an awesome selection of armor and Mike is the best at getting you whatever you need.

Thanks, that is good to know. I wonder which hobby shop has it's own billboard out on I-95? I was going too fast to read the rest of the directions . Could it be the one you're talking about?
I've been to the Hobbit. I was pleasantly surprised as I thought it might just be a gaming place. He's got a great selection andplenty of old sought after kits as well. I'll have to check out Hayes, and hopefully catch a meeting sometime. Ft. Bragg will a sort of second (third actually) home for me.

The Billboard sign is for a shop off the interstate if I remember correctly, mostly train and rc stuff. Hobbit's OK, but not friends with the owner, if you join LSM, you get a 10% discount at HHH, not true at the Hobbit. Hobbit's prices are higher too. That's just my opinion.

Hey, if any of you trackheads are around, our club (Lafayette Scale Modelers) is putting on our annual contest Nov 8 in Fayetteville NC. There's always a bunch of planes so let's see if we can out-do them with armor! We have a website, just google the club name and get the info you need.

Newer stuff IS fairly high. I paid over $32.00 for the CH47-D crew. His older stuff appears to have older pirces though. And no discount at all.

As for November, damn the luck. I'll no longer be at Bragg, but more likely running a JRTC rotation.

Again, damn the luck. The Wilson Match starts on the 12th at Camp Robinson. I'll be flying out on the afternoon of the 10th. I DO want to go check it out before I depart though.

Just moved to Etowah NC. Retired after 37 years in Law Enforcement. Now that I'm retired I would like to get back into Armor Diorama's. Found a very well stocked Hobby Shop in Hendersonville.

Welcome Ron, and congrats on your retirement. I spend time up in saluda a few times a year. Where is the hobby shop located?
