Model Kit-R.A.F Air Sea Rescue Launch by Airfix ,1/72 scale, kit #(A05281)

The vessel commonly known as the whaleback, so called by its distinctive cambered deck...following the disastrous Dieppe raid in August 1942, when a number of craft were badly shot up, additional armament was installed in the form of paired .303in machine guns on 'free' mounts on either side of the wheel-house, and a single 20mm Oerlikon fitted on a strengthened rear deck...burning 60 gallons of petrol per hour, the maximum speed is 25 knots with a range of some 500 miles.

Building this Airfix model from more then thirty years ago, is a very easy task. Three adjustments to the build is required, (and three things I actually forgot), these are, the twin mount machine gun post need to be cut down, the large decal at the front of the boat has to go on before the triangle arrangement, and the 20mm gun loop/rest should be slightly bent backward.

This is a well detailed model in 1-72 which gives you 11 inches in length and standing 6 inches on its stand. Rigging the boat is simple, and best of all, this is a cheap model kit!
