Orlando IPMS 2015

Orlando, Florida hosted the IPMS 2015 Regional Convention at Wyndham Resort from September 18 to September 20th. Registration began at 7pm on the 18th and ran until the morning of the next day. An exhibition on what judges look for was held, on the 20th at 11am; with the awards ceremony following. Fourteen categories ranged from Basic and Advanced [OOB(with instructions), scratch build] Real Space/Sci-Fi, Automotive, Marine, Aircraft, Figures, Dioramas, to Armor/AFV. Four and one half tables were set up to display contestant entries, with a vendor section in the same conference room. There were some spectacular entries submitted. I was not able to photograph all of them, due to some only being displayed for a short time. The Orlando Club staff were very friendly and helpful. Admission for registration was a flat $20 no matter how many entries there were, and, $5 for those not competing plus a raffle was held. I was also not able to photograph the awards ceremony, as the room was full to bursting, this leaving people standing in the hall, with the doors open. Honourable Mentions, Bronze, Silver and Gold awards were not limited to one per category and included Best Display, this award being given to contestants who entered multiple builds that displayed the same quality, uniformly. Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend in 2016, but recommend going to those who enjoy such gatherings.

Thanks for the pictures, Matt. I attended this show. It is one of the better shows in Florida. The models were top-notch and the armor was packed and, surprisingly, the Sci-Fi/Real-Space ended up needing double the table space because of the number of entries! Another great job by the Orlando-IPMS club! Stephen Vermilye Caloosa Plastic Modelers - Fort Myers

I wish I had known you were there. I felt a little out of place, with all of the obvious groups.

wasn't there a Sherman with red white and blue rings on top of it?

That would be one of my entries. I am pretty happy, with bronze. Thank you for noticing the omission.
